My favorite personally created character, however, was Budar the Barbarian from Diablo2. He was quite awesome, both in stats and in looks. He carried a rare polearm. It seemed like everyone else had a two handed sword barbarian so I gave him a polearm.
I must say though I hate the 'Create your Own Character' RPGs. They're so flat. The only difference between your character and anothers is purely cosmetic.
If I'm going to play an RPG, I want character and storyline. That's why I am a disciple of BIOware and Square-Enix.

Magus, some of your ARE only on II.
As for me, I was recently able to find a copy of FF7, and I'd forgotten how much I'd forgotten about that game... I last played it when it was first out on the Playstation oh so many years ago... what, 1997/8??
Ah, the good old days...
Of course, they weren't old and certainly not good, but who's asking?

Yeah... I caught that... after you mentioned it to me...
Yeah, well, anyway... The ironic thing is after I played BGII:SOA and BGII:TOB I got the origional Baldur's Gate and played that.
My first character was a dwarven fighter named Ratava Shaa. He specialized in axes and was chaotic good, like most of my characters I find. He had excellent stats, especially in Strength, Dexterity and Constitution. His stats in Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma were all more or less in the same area, good but not great. He was in a single player game, so I didn't have any of my own people involved. My party consisted of Minsc, Jaheira, Khalid, Imoen and Kagain. Minsc was getting irritated that I wasn't doing his quest for some time, so finally I decided that I'd do it for him. Well, after some nasty battles with bandits we got to that tower where we were supposed to go to rescue Dynaheir. Just then he screamed and told use we weren't doing his quest and went beserk and attacked me, killing my entire party that was on the very brink of death. And, all this after I had quicksaved. I had a previously saved game, but it was so far back that it wasn't worth loading. And so I couldn;t continue in the game and made a new one. This one had a human mage named... Magus!

Hmmm... I've never played the PS1. But the greatest RPG's that I've played have been from the Baldur's Gate Series, the second game and its expansion being the two greatest. The original Diablo game and its sequel were great, but I've never played the expansion to the second game and Hellfire wasn't that great as far as expansions go. From what I've seen and heard Morrowind is excellent.
But, keep in mind, all of these are for the computer. For the PS1 I don't know enough to recommend for.

I'm starting a new game in Baldur's Gate II today, just something to occupy myself with. And I'm going partially for the heroes concept that I did with my one group, but not quite. The party will be entirely custom-made but not all of them will be together at once. And I think that I'm going to try Cheesor the Mad again, but not the way that I had her before. I'm going to make her an archer, for in my current work in progress she's singularly gifted with a bow. And this will be before she goes mad, so she will be Cheesor Truesight.
She's also going to have her male bard companion with severe social anxiety disorder, Bellemine Dragnus. But I greatly dislike the Bard kits in the game, so I'm going for the next best thing with Bell. He'll be a kensai, as in my current work in progress he doesn't wear armor and is very inept at magic anyway.
I'll add in some other characters later on, but for the beginning of the game I'll stick with just those two. I'll inform you how they both go.

I have just started a new character in Morrowind. One that I intend to eventually turn into a vampire and use to wipe out the entire Tribunal Temple. Those guys have bugged me and pushed me around for the last time.
Anyway, it's a Bosmer (wood elf) female named Lorgatious. Archer class and already becoming proficient in her skills. I took most of a suit of Glass Armour (the best light armour in the game) but only because I knew where to look. Buy the right spell and a level one character can have most of one of the best suits in the game. Have to level up a ways before I can take on the vampires and change over though
