Because, in the measure of time, in the measure of humanity, we sense those self-indulgent instincts to be a weakness, we sense that the needs of the community must outweight the desires of the one. Only when we admit to our failures and recognize our weaknesses can we rise above them. Together." -Drizzt Do'Urden

I own it, but haven't run it. I'd been under the impression that all of the servers that were running it had stopped doing so.

No, not that kind of impression...

I used to play UO years ago, and did so for 3-4 years. I still pay for the game, go figure, but haven't logged in for a long time. I really should be responsible and make a decision. I play WoW now instead for my MMO entertainment needs.
UO really is old school. Came out in '97 and is the longest running MMO to date. As far as I'm aware, all the servers are still going strong. The game is getting a full 3D upgrade in the coming months, though to be honest, in comparison of the new MMO's out there UO is really dated.
Still can't deny the grandfather of MMO's though and the real ingenuity that came with the game.

The game is great, and yes it's older. But it has quite a bit of stuff in the game. The game is at it's peak now, when t's still ok...if it get put completly 3d it might go down hill in my opinion.

Well the game is technically in 3D already, with implementing a new 3D engine a few years back. The new revamp will merely reskin the current game with better detailed and higher resolution graphics.
