Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Writer's Discussion: Problems with Writing:
First/Third Person
First/Third PersonWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
I am currently writing a novel in first person. However, since the story is bigger then the character(as most stories usually are) I dont want just my character's viewpoint I want to incorperate more. My problem is that I think it'll sound wrong to write it in first person. Is it ok to write the other characters in third person or does this not only screw up the writing but the purpose of first person as well?
Well, you could write other characters in the third person. But I would highly caution you against it.
Write it in the past tense when you have to explain something. "By the time we were making our way towards SkullMountSuperFortress, General Lo Maye blah blah blah." like that.
