For some reason, it just hit me the other day to start writting from a historical perspective. Narating the accounts transpired as seen from a third person.

Though I am sure this technique is often used, I have always found myself trapped in the details (ie: detailing the weather conditions surrounding an event), this has often caused me to get frustrated and scrap a story which I was previously pleased with.

I think it has more to do with a mental block that I imposed on myself. Being the huge history buff that I am and looking at how events are often described is helping me progress with my writting and I am gratefull. Just thought I would share this little slice of heaven from my corner of the universe.

Though I think that writting from a historical perspective will force me to lose some emotion, compared to writting from the first person. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Best,

The African Banzai savage

Just look at almost any book on the market. They're all third person. A very small portion are first and then only Choose Your Own Adventure books are in second.

In third person there's limited, omniscient and a kind of go between hybrid of the two. You can convey plenty of emotion in third, so long as you can write well with it.
