OK, first of all, my story takes place in the future, where inter-planetary travel and colonization is commonplace. Airships, cruisers, shuttles etc. rule the skies. The earth is running low on rescources, so miners work day and night, extracting alternate fuels from other planets such as Mars as well as metals from asteroid belts.

My question is however, is this likely for 2100? If so, what else do you think the world will be like in the era of 2100-2300? For example, what kind of travel would be used? What would wars be fought with? etc.

My favourite artist, Khalid Iszard's work seems to sum up my idea perfectly (http://www.epilogue.net/cgi/database/art/list.pl?gallery=4987&genre=1) but what do you think?

Awesome pictures. I especially like "The Gods of Old".

Really, the future is anybody's guess. But if you trying to go for the most realistic possibilities then go watch Minority Report. They brought in scientists, inventers and other future analysts together for a few weeks and developed the designs for the world based on their most realistic visions for what the future may bring. But I suppose the novella itself would better show what Mr. Dick thought it would bring.

Indeed, I do own a copy of Minority Report, but I have never really payed much attention to it. However, seeing as I don't think I have a heavy schedule today, I can fit in time to watch it. It may well provide me with some food for thought. Thanks for the response Magus.
