So I was wondering, since I write Egyptian style fantasies shouldn't I have a name which reflects that? I've thought of a few but none of them seem to be doing it for me. I've narrowed it down to my original C. L. EASTERWOOD, which I may want to save for work outside the fantasy genre and CAIRO LEE.
Which do you like best?
Which do you think would get more attention from a perspective reader who's interested in Egptian stories?

Go with the original. Cairo Lee is just too...cute, and may lead readers to expect you to write Egyptian-themed books forever. You never know what the future holds--you might want to explore other areas and ideas.

Just my 2 cents.

I just needed a little extra confirmation! Thanks! C. L. Easterwood seems to be the most popular among people I know, I was pondering... :D

I like the origional along with the rest of those who came here before me. Personally I don't like the thought of pen names... I always liked getting the credit for my work... but if it works for you then good luck with it.

Yeah, I'm going to use my real name when I get published, even though it makes me sound like the most average person on the planet.

It's not John Smith... or Bob Jones... or Jack Wallace... is it?

If you read my short story in Deep Magic ezine (free by the way) then you'll notice my real name is a little unmarketable! It's Polish, difficult to spell, and difficult to pronounce. Easterwood is my maiden name so technically I'm still getting credit for it! :D It seems everyone's in agreement. :) C.L. Easterwood it is. :)

PS Why am I having to create a new profile almost once a week? There's a bug somewhere in the system, you guys should call an exterminator! :D

Hmm... well I couldn't stand having a pen name, even if I did have an unusual name. But yeah, the first one.

Could you provide a link? I'm finding a surprising many "Deep Fantasy" E-zines.

And, yes, there bug seems to have recurred again. But it's at least not appearing to be as bad as the prior one... at least to me that is. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Sure Magus, a link is provided as per your request. :) http://www.deep-magic.net Just download the issue in the format you want. My short is on page 7 under Czerniawski--they boo-booed!
I tell ya, that bug has hit me twice already! Wonder if it'll do it again? My posts still show but my user profile and name just disappear like ice under the sun.

Cleasterwood, I've been looking at the Submission Guidelines at Deep Magic and it doesn't seem to specify the length. I looked at the latest edition and they seem very short.

Also, I cannot find you there yet. Are you there under another name?

It didn't download properly with me. I'll try it again though.

Neurolanis,
Yes, it's under C. Lynn Czerniawski not C. L. Easterwood. The Geek messed up and printed it under my real name instead of my pen name. Deep Magic will accept almost any length including a chance to serialize novels. Some are long, some short, I guess this month just had shorter submissions. :)

Magus,
I had that problem a few times, if you have Adobe Acrobat, that's the best format to download.

PS Go read my Query help thread for some good news!!!!!

OH WARNING!! I tried downloading that thing (eReader) and I'm pretty sure that a bad virus came in on it! I found another option there to read the mag, I forget which.

Ok, thanks Cleasterwood. I'll try looking up Czerniawski.

I've never gotten a virus from them, EVER! But they've had a problem in the past with a hacker messing up the site so I'll let them know straight away. The name of the story is Lady Galiena--The watcher of the road.

Ok. I was just giving a warning because one did get onto the computer the same day that I downloaded it. It may or may not have been that.
