OH, UM, UM, UM, OH! GUYS/GALS I CAN'T SAY THANKS ENOUGH!!!!!!!! *Sends big kisses to all and an extra sloppy one to chowder*

Dum, dum, dum.........An agent read my query and wants to see a partial!!!!!!!!! The query letter worked!!!! YIPPPIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE....
Okay, I have to calm down a little now. Breathe, remember to breathe. :D

Now, I have another problem. She would like to see a full synopsis, but I sent a one pager with the query. Does she want a Chapter by chapter summary?

Oh, I can't believe it!!! And on the very first try too! I know it doesn't mean they'll accept the story but dang it's a start and still a thrill!!!

((hugs)) to Cleasterwood!! Congratulations!! This is so exciting! Can't answer about the synopsis. Maybe you should call?

Well, the site said "send a full synopsis or outline" so I sent a synopsis but it was only one page. It leads me to believe they want an outline since they already have a short synopsis. The letter says: I read your letter with interest and would be happy to consider a partial on the project. Please forward hard copy of the first 50 pages and full synopsis..." I guess my one pager wasn't in-depth enough for them but that's okay. I know that story like the back of my hand! :D I should huh? I wrote it and my index cards has all the information in one easy place! I can't believe it! Thanks for the congrats! I'll pat my back when they request the whole thing. :D :D :D

So, then, have you put the first 50 ppg together already in a form with which you are happy? If so, then you're well on your way! Be sure to include both the synopsis from your index cards (smoothed up, of course!) and those first 50 pgs and that should get your nose in there! Congratulations!

Great news!

A full synopsis, huh? How many pages are you thinking? I've heard 3-5 (sometimes more). The agent should be able to tell by the partial whether you can write. The synopsis does that too, but in addition it lays out the plot in enough detail that the agent will know what the story is about and that it's brought to a satifying end.

I am so pleased for you and will keep my fingers crossed!

I was hoping the one page synopsis I sent them was enough but now I'm finding where I left out some minor twists. I'm trying to tweak it now and expanding on the minor details which would make it more interesting.

One thing I think I should warn you against: Don't think too much about it!

Sounds strange, but a watched pot never boils and often you will only screw something up (that's a general "you", by the way, not directed at you in particular) if you keep working it over and over. Some people can do that, others can't. Tolkein could, but he was one of the rare ones, and his writing style worked well with that. Most of us, though, are "creative" writers, in that we let the pen move our hand, not our hand move the pen.

So... what I'd do is keep a first copy of your story as well as a latest revised version and have someone read both and then give you an honest opinion of them. Just don't tell him/her which was done first, or that may colour their comments and ruin the purpose of the review.

Good sound advice Aldan. The excitement is just now getting out of my blood and I've reviewed my synopsis and found a couple of places where I can add some other details that I omited because I needed a one page synopsis for most agents. I'm not too concerned about screwing things up too much. Usually I don't think when I'm writing, it just happens for me but when I do it kinda messes me up. I don't plan on spending more than a day revising it as it only needs a few minor additions to let the agent know the entire plot in better detail and I've already figured out where those details need to go. All I have to do is write it out. :)
