I am looking for ideas for the name of a warlike barbarian race that I am creating for my story. This race is based on the ancient Gaals, Vikings, and Norse.

Ideas that I have come up with so far:

Gaalurans
N'Krun
Vaeluns
Kgael
Gae'Naka

I am looking for a name that has that ancient ring to it, like Gaal, or Gaelic for instance.

All of your ideas will be greatly appreciated.

B'En Ja'Ru ;)

Hmmmmm... none come to me off the top of my head, none that are any good at least. Personally I like the one you posted, Gaalurans. I say go with that one.

Thanks! I kinda like that one too, I just thought someone would nail me for having "Gaal" in the name.

Does anyone know of any really good name generators?
I have found a few, but nothing particularly brilliant.

Um, how exactly would you pronounce "Gaalurans" ?

I'd think it would be:

g-ah-loo-rahns

***Note the use of a colon. LOL***

and isnt that the same as my "g-ah-loo-rans"? or when you say g-ah-loo-rahns, do you actually mean g-ah-loo-r-ah-n-s? hmm

Browse the Iliad for good sounding ancient names. I think copyright has expired on those ;). For example...
Ajax
Dardanus
Some variation of "Achaean" would make an awesome name...(that's Ah-kay-enn)for example, Achaeana, Elachaean
Cronus
Hecuba
Pergamus
Thoas...lemme give you some background on Thoas...
"Aetolian Thoas speared him as he swerved and sprang away, the lancehead piercing his chest above the nipple plunged deep in his lung, and Thoas, running up, wrenched the heavy spear from the man's chest, drew his blade, ripped him across the belly, took his life but he could not strip his armor" That's from the Iliad...
Or if you want a longer name...try
Cephallenian
Thersiloches
Asteropaeus
Disenor
Chromius
Ennomus

Sry for double post!! I just read above that you wanted Gaelic names...well then, those names above aren't exactly Gaelic. Good gaelic ones come from Beowulf...for example
Unferth
Wealtheow
Freawaru
Hrothulf
(Hrothgar, but he's awfully well known)
Ehm...I can't remember any more, There are TONS though, as soon as I can find my copy. If you want Gaelic names and stuff, start with stuff written in Old english!

Thanks a LOT! Caegaraneva. That is a BIG help! Any name ideas really help, actually, the more the better!!

I also need some ideas for the name of a... nature race, a people kind of like elves. These people are a peace loving nation, who get almost wiped out by the Gaalurans (however you pronounce it ;) ) then they retreat into the great forest of Watchamajigy (need a name for the forest too! :) ) Anyone got any ideas?
