help! does anyone know any girl names meaning dark or night? im at a loss.

That's the feminine form of black in spanish. Other then that I can't think of much.

Nocturne... Oscura (It means shadowy)... Voga (Also means shadowy)... Sombra (Means shadow)... Oscuridad (Means shadow... as in darkness)... Humeante (Smokey)...

I recommend simply using one of the online translation dictionaries. translate the english world to spanish/ japanese, latin, chinese until you find the one that sounds best.

No, don't use an online translator unless you are already familiar with the grammar of that language because you might end up with the wrong gender or something. And Japanese, Chinese, and Russian translators won't help you unless you can read those.

Voga is a nice name... The others are too close to English.

Dark: Foncée
Night: (La)Nuit (noo-ee), Nacht
Eclipse: Eclissi

Eh... I wouldn't use those if I were you.

An awesome site for finding names. It's a translator from English to Elvish, that is, the elvish from LOTR. There are awesome names in there! And if you are actually going to use these names in publication, and are worried about copyright or something, just change some letters!

Some suggestions: Myrn, plural of night in Sindarin
WOW! a cool one: Gurothos, shadow of death in Sindarin
Also, Gwath, for simple "Shadow"...there are all sorts of other things from Elvish; Tolkien really captured the feeling of English words in his Elvish.
