Are you as indecisive as I am about your writing?
Are you as indecisive as I am about your writing? We have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
Writing is fun. I know that. You know it, or you wouldn't be writing. But jeez!!!! its hard!!! As my story comes along, I find myself stopping at certain events or scenes. There are just SO many ways that a scene could play out.
Yes, indeed... But I keep thinking that if I can't use it in the first story, I'll use it later. Sometimes I spend so much time trying to perfect something that I forget what else I was going to write. That's when it really sucks.
Yes, it happens to me sometimes. Mostly its on what idea to write, I have so many its sometimes hard to choose. Once I get into it I find that I can stick with it though. Sometimes it needs to be forced and done quickly enough to get through a troubling scene or part of your story. Other times it needs to be expanded and dragged out. The important thing is to keep writing though, there's always time to expand, edit and revise.
and why are you indicisive about my writing?
The rough draft can be a real breeze for me; it's the editing\rewriting that's really hard for me! I mean it's fun, but hard. Each line. Each paragraph. Each page. Each chapter. Each part. The overall novel...all these factors come under my critical eye and I trim and cut, dress up and dress down, rephrase or rethink. There are certain words I really overuse, like in battle scenes: "cut down", "stab", and "slash". If you use those words in every moment of conflict it creates a problem, and you must work it out. Knowing HOW to replace them is the tuff part!
I don't think I used "cut down" or "stab" once in any of my battles, but slash is in my current book about fifteen times, which is more than I'd like. I think I might overuse "charge" and "repulse."
