Keeping with the theme of questions I have been posting as of late, I thought I would ask what other types of art you guys do. I was thinking about this because I am very much into photography (I do more of it then I write) and I was working on a layout design and a list of photos I need from my photographers (since I am a photographer and the photo editor on my yearbook staff) and I thought about all of the different creative things I do as part of yearbook and I wondered what other creative/artsy stuff you all do.

I do visual art such as drawing real life landscapes with pencil to great detail, cartooning, and abstract sketching.

I write. (oooobviously!) :D Besides fantasy, I write poetry, horror, and abstract what-the-heck? stuff

I applied to take a photography class, but my portfolio was rejected! :( This, after in high school officials from an art gallery remarked that my art class works were "professional" and "remarkable." Grr...

I'm a fibre artist, besides doing graphic work and writing fantasy.

Graphics, mostly pencil, some ink, some digital; primarily of fantasy human and alien figures. I'm fairly good at that, not professional sellable quality, but close. Just have to work on shading and mood more.

Also I do a bit of computer programming, strictly as a pastime. My lifelong quests in that arena are to design the ultimate retro cyberpunk decking game, a starship simulator (similar to a submarine simulator), and a multilevel (tactical to strategical) wargaming system. I don't expect to produce anything until I'm retired, but it's fun to make up conceptual designs, implement prototypes, and then scrap them when I think of a hundred ways to improve them.

My latest hobby is woodcarving, although I'm no good at it yet; the only decent thing I've made is a tank. Everything else pretty much looks like a chewed up chunk of wood.

I write, like everyone here.

I sometimes write music, I'm thinking it would be a cool hobby to write music for small Saxophone ensembles.

I draw a little, not much lately, though. People say I'm pretty good, but I think I'm only pretty O.K.

I play Tenor/Alto Saxophone and am learning Piano, I think that counts as an art. If not then it should. :)

I write music sometimes, mostly for video games I'm making.

I play tenor saxophone and electric bass.

I participated in carving a totem pole.

I also do 3D computer graphics. Right now I'm working on an Allosaurus for a short trailer for my book. I think if I take it to writers' conferences it will catch attention. My book starts off a little slow, so editors might be hesitant to take on the project, even if they think my writing is competent.

There's a textureless render of my Allosaurus here.

I draw horribly, but a lot. I'm in a lot of theater. Trying out for school play, in school class, participate in City at Peace.

I've actually be tinkering on and off with a short piano piece. Lately I've added the bass clef part and the chords it makes really tops it of. Methinks it is done. I already figured out the exact tempo, time signature and style. All I have left is to write it down on staff paper.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Drama! I was in it High School, and acted in four plays. I was a melodrama villain in one, a guy pretending to be a priest as part of insurance scam in another, a high school filmmaker, and lastly the father of a man about to be married.

I liked the filmmaker one the best. The play was called "Hooray for Hollywood" and I had the lead.

I write music occasionally, mostly piano peices in a classical style because I find that the most fun. (I think because with classical more complex=better, and interweaving textures like Beethoven overused are great fun to write.)

Erm... though it's still writing, I'm a poet too.

Oh and I love photography as well though I haven't much time for it atm.

Is world building (computer type) an art? lol I guess I'm more the appreciator than the artist type seeing how writing is the only "art" I do.

Oh wait, I parent. Now there is an artform!

Good thread!

I used to be heavily into theater and performance. Public speaking, improv, etc. Now I'm more into stuff at home. I'm trying to teach myself how to do computer animation (inspired by www.homestarrunner.com). I've made some weird animations to music composed by a friend of mine. And I've made a few cartoons, too. Not very good, but fun and challenging. I desperately need to take a drawing class. I also like making puppet shows and other pieces of mini-performance art.

And of course, I like to write. :)

Basically, if it has a plot, I enjoy being a part of it.

I play the alto sax and the oboe. I suck at them, though, so I wouldn't call them art.

Hmm... just about everything else seems to be tied into language.

And the dragon comes in the NIIIIIGGGHHT!!!!!

AWESOME SITE! I've been going there for over a year and obsessively watch every E-Mail. Trogdor, believe it or not, was the unofficial mascot of our Marching Band last year when we played "In the Shadow of the Dragon". Everyone at my school, and I am no exception, obsess over that site.
