Setting: Polar Zone. A cold one. Kind of like a snow desert. Not a lot of vegetation, just large water mammals and the odd bear.

Do a twisted retelling of a fairy tale or a myth. Along the lines of Eudora Welty's "The Robber Bridegroom." Most teachers love that kind of thing.

well definatly dont' do a story of a student killing a teacher, you will get suspended for that, as recent news suggests. :-)

here's a small fantasy, how a bout little red riding hood, but from the wolf's perspective. a grueling tale of a terrible winter which has left the hunting plains barren of good prey. forcing him to go after human meat. Perhaps a she-wolf mate a couple of cubs that he must feed as well, draw upon the emotional strings to break the readers pre-determined view of the wolf.

hey, wafricansavage, have you ever read any Gregory Maguire? 'Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister'? 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West'? Cuz your idea sounds strikingly similar to that author's style.
