Putting together some notes for a story revolving around nanotechnology.

First of all:
Can anyone point me towards some good non-obvious Web sites for research on this subject? I've already been on Nano.gov, the Nanotechnology Database and Slashdot. Any good articles?

Second of all:
Stupid Word auto-hyperlinks! Die! DIE!!! Is there a way to make these •••• things stop hyperlinking every time I cut and past a url into a doc? I've got Word 2002.

Thanks for any aid.

well, this may be considered obvious... but www.nanotechweb.org has some interesting information...
I'm a bit more qualified to handle the Word problem though... (autoformatting annoys me) Just go to the tools menu and click on "autocorrect options" click on the autoformat tab uncheck the "replace internet and network paths with hyperlinks" box... click ok.. and you're done with annoying hyperlinks in your documents...

Here's a killer page for nano resources: http://www.extropy.org/ideas/resources/index.html
There's also a section on it for artificial intelligence and a few others. Should be helpful.
Ahhh , so *that's* the quick way to turn off hyperlinking. I'd been using the smart tags, the little blue boxes that appear when you cut-and-paste anything in, and used the option to kill the hyperlink. You can also use the smart tags to keep the text or whatever in the source format or the destination format, etc. Since I've figured all that out, I've considered Office XP to be worth the upgrade. ;)

Will your story deal with the grey goo scenario?
