Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Writer's Showcase: How to Post Your Story/Poem
How to Post Your Story/Poem
We have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
PLEASE BOOKMARK THE NEW FORUMS
By posting your stories or poetry in this forum you agree to Speculative Vision's "house rules":
- You may not post anonymously and must include your e-mail address.
- Obscene language, graphic violence, sexual acts/erotica, etc. are not allowed (think PG13).
- Short Stories must have a SF/F/Horror theme--poems can have any theme.
- All work must be original. "Fan fiction" is OK if distinct trademarks of the original are not used. For example, you may post a Star Trek inspired story if existing Star Trek characters, starships, etc., are not used.
- Maximum length of each posting is approx. 2000 words (due to potential server time out problems). Post longer stories as chapters or as a serial (I can re-sort chapters posted at different times to group them together if you ask me).
- Speculative Vision reserves the right to remove anything in this forum without notice.
How to post: Navigate to "Short Stories" or "Poetry" and select "Create New Conversation". Use your last (or pen) name and the title separated by a comma as the topic (i.e. "my name, my story title" . Enter your story/poem as the first message. How to have your story/poem removed: If you want to have your story or poem removed, send an e-mail to The Master. Please include the topice title as it appears in the forum. All requests are verified via the e-mail address linked to your post. Hints for best results:
- Spell check with a word processor, then "cut and paste" your work into the message form.
- Plain fonts like courier, arial, or helvetica, and disabling "smart quote" features that alter/smooth quotation marks give the best results (try to cut and paste the plainest text you can).
- Word processor formatting (bold, etc.) will not show up. Read the formatting section for special codes used by this program including how to add a link to your own website.
- Separate paragraphs with double space carriage returns.
- Tabs, indentations, and multiple spaces are not recognized; to structure work with spaces, insert this code for each space: \ch{nbsp}
- Proofread carefully in the preview window--you can't fix errors later!
- To include a copyright notice, insert this code for the © symbol: \ch{c}
NOTE: Backslashes ( \ ) and curley braces ( { } ) are reserved by this program and may cause errors if used in your text.
