Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Off-Topic Conversations: Ethical Dilemma TV downloads
Ethical Dilemma TV downloadsWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
Legally it is not permitted to reproduce television broadcasts. Now I am a fan of the Stargate series (although the series is not important as to the principle), and at the moment viewers in the northern hemisphere have concluded season 8 while in my home (Australia) we are yet to start or have just started season seven. Now I can legally buy DVD’s from the UK and watch them before my local networks show the episodes on commercial free to air.
Personally, I say it's ethical if you buy the dvd. They've been released to the masses to be sold. Why should you be any different? It's not an illegal copy, or an illegal purchase in any way. And I highly doubt that it would be an illegal import/export.
We had the some problem with Star Terk in NZ for years.....DS9 and Voy...you could get the eps on video.....and we where behind more than that......I never did however, not that much of a fan....I thought just wait it out it will come on TV eventually......however I did get the B5 movies on tape, when they went cheap at a shop....that's right no moral/ethical problems ...they did eventually come on TV....
I'm so glad I live in America... then again, I hardly ever watch tv...
I wish I had Lastone & dark Knight problems actualy :-) I wish I could live in Australia or new Zealand. Leave the lousy Canadian winters behind me and be able to watch some Australian football or real rugby live on the spot, not 3 weeks later when I know the scores :-)
