I dabble a little in writing, though with a two and a half year old, it's hard to get any free time when you actually have energy to write. The same goes for reading fantasy. I tend to obsessivly read any good book I pick up, so I don't do it often now. (Go watch T.V. until I finish this chapter.. just one more chapter... just one more...)

About the only comforting thought, or maybe it isn't now that I think of it, is that the little one will not be little long so enjoy while you can. I think having little ones around is why I got into the habit of reading before I fell asleep at night. Perhaps you could compose stories to read to the child?
Welcome, Bookwyrm! And ditto on the good luck. About the obsessive reading, that can be an asset. Try to be just as obsessive about writing and it will go a lot faster. I made it my New Year's Resolution to write a short story every week, and so far it's going great. It doesn't really have to take much time either. A 2000 word stoy can go by in a couple hours, and two hours a week isn't a tremendous devotion of time. Also, you mentioned needing energy to write. That's a myth. Go ahead and write when you don't have energy for it. Even if it strikes you as awful, chances are your first draft will contain the skeleton of the great work you intended to compose. Sometimes I write horrible rough drafts, but I know I can come back and clean them up later. Good luck again, however you decide to go about writing.

Posted By: * raye * Feb 07, 2005 - 12:52 pm | | welcome welcome!!! Bookwyrm, im exactly the same with reading. ROCK ON LITERARY FREAKS!!!!! when i write its like when i paint. it has to be exactly when the inspiration strikes me. anyother time is entirely useless in even trying. -ive always wondered how you got it to do colors and fonts magus. im not a computer person.
Posted By: Magus Feb 07, 2005 - 01:03 pm | | It's in the formatting section. The long and short of it sums up to: \ i { \ b { \ purple { text } } } Text i = intalics b = bold and then you can interchange certain colors for the purple.
