No, this is not about drug use. Although you can get high on drugs. (Don't do drugs!) You can get high on sugar. You can pray or meditate and reach a spiritual high. And there is that momentary sexual high no one's supposed to talk about. You can get high on music.

I used to get high on early 90's dance music as a teen. Really. Actually, I can get high on cars at night, leaves blowing through the wind, or, well, is it just me or can't you pretty much get high on ANYTHING? All you need is something that touches you in some way, and you let go, and let that sensation take your mind into a pyschodelic trance. Maybe I'm some kind of freak, but getting a spiritual high was always easy for me. I don't really need to focus, just let go.

Anyone have anything to add? (And no, I'm not crazy. Well, I might b. I mean im pretty sure. I mean if you WERE crazy you could tell, right? I dunno.)

There's a high when you hold your newborn child in your arms for the first time.

There's a high when you are teaching someone and you see that sudden look of comprehension in their eyes.

A Runner's High. A state of euphoria you can get after you "hit the wall."

I've experienced it when I used to run and the effect can be compared to the effect produced by taking certain illegal drugs.

It's thought to be caused by an increase in endorphin production in the brain. Endorphins being a group of opiate proteins with pain-relieving properties that are found naturally in the brain. The rate of endorphin production increases to battle the body's stress and/or pain of running long distances.

That's right kids, a runner's high very likely is because your brain is getting more opiate proteins. For those that don't know, morphine and heroin are opiates.

They don't tell you that kind of stuff at thetruth.com, do they? ;-])

Yeah, you guys make good points. I used to get an amzing high while acting on stage or doing stand-up. That was so amazing. And love of course. I can only imagine what holding your newborn child in your arms would feel like. That would probaly change you forever.

When you're really tired you're high. And I'm talking about when you're so tired that anything anybody else says automatically becomes funny. It's so tired where you become a spectator to what you are doing rather then a participent of what you're doing.
