Posted By: Magus Jan 15, 2005 - 05:33 am | | "Did anyone else know that Christmas celebrations are supposed to include immorality, abomination, adultery and drunken dancing? My parents lied to me. I've been celebrating Christmas wrong all this time." Mine too! They've been lying to me for years!

Well the drinking of my Dad's eggnog has certainly lead to much drunken dancing at our families Christmas celebration.
Posted By: Magus Jan 15, 2005 - 01:16 pm | | "Dude! It's Christmas Eve! I should be home drinking this monster eggnog my brother makes with lighter fluid!" There's a personal favorite quote of mine from Better off Dead.
Posted By: Qray Jan 15, 2005 - 04:12 pm | | Fan, I don't think anyone has said that the US is not doing enough or is not involved. - PC Not on this BBS, but in the media it's been all over the place. The funny (not funny ha-ha, but funny pathetic) thing is that if it weren't for the media blowing it all out of perportion, that off-handed comment that the U.N. rep made about Western Nations not doing enough would have been forgotton in a day as nothing more than the unproven comment of a politico that it was. When I first started posting in this thread about how great it was to see the world's outpouring of help, I too was tempted to focus on the U.S. efforts as there is a wealth of information being put out by the media on that. If I didn't know better (what the smeg, I don't know better) I'd say the media blew the U.N. rep's comment way out of perportion just so it could later report on the U.S.'s aid effort. Creating for itself a bigger, more controversial, and higher rated story. Like the tsunami wasn't news enough. ...Yeesh. Guess what? Canada and its military has been doing these things for countries all around the world for, what, 30 or 40 years now? We don't go patting ourselves on the back so hard. - Neurolanis From what I've read, Fan's posts, while featuring mainly the efforts of the U.S. in helping out, are not soley focused on the U.S. There are many of his posts that include the aid efforts of other countries and the world in general. Though from reading the posts you may get the idea that he's patting the U.S. on the back, it's not so. Unlike what you were trying to attempt with your very first post in this thread when you intentionally posted just to say what a good job Canada was doing. Perhaps you are centering in on the more "U.S. focus" of his posts for some particular reason? First, I am not angry at Americans in general. - Neurolanis From reading your posts, I'd have to say that surprises me. Well, not so much that your angry at Americans, than that you dislike America and Americans as they and it don't conform to your worldview. I've noticed that the words and attitude you use when discussing the U.S. in your posts are exactly the same you use when are arguing in your posts with someone you don't care for. Though you may or may not intend them to be, your posts come off as argumentitive and even at times border on the offensive. I'm sure your not like this and perhaps it's just a poor choice of words you decide to use in your posts to try and get your opinions across. Saying the bully factor which seems to threaten its culture and flippantly referring to the U.S. President as Hitler are good examples that would get you kicked for trolling at a less tolerant BBS. In the past I've had my posts interpretted incorrectly from how I meant them and was forced to rethink the words I chose in subsiquent posts. Perhaps you should consider the wording of your posts too if so many people say the same thing. Just a thought [shrug] Merle, I never claimed to be perfect. I make mistakes as does everyone. - PC You never claimed it, Crash. [Q grins roguishly] But I think there's been some underlining implications of perfection ;-]) Um, Hmm, well... Err, Neurolanis, oh nevermind, I am not well enough known to have any impact - BenJaru That shouldn't stop you from posting, BenJaru. It's never stopped me ;-]) [Noticing the soap box Q has been standing on has collapsed to reveal a hidden bottle of Stolichnaya underneath, Q procure's the bottle and wanders off in search of a glass] Did anyone else know that Christmas celebrations are supposed to include immorality, abomination, adultery and drunken dancing? My parents lied to me. I've been celebrating Christmas wrong all this time. - fanuilh Well then, with the exception of the adultry (well, there was that one Christmas in which my girlfriend lied to me about being divorced) my family seems to be right on par..eeeeexcellent.

Posted By: Bmat Jan 15, 2005 - 05:40 pm | | It came to my attention that by quoting one of the members that I was placing unfair blame on that member. This was not my intention, so I willingly removed the quote. I apologize to Neuro for any embarrassment that I caused.
Posted By: Aldan Jan 16, 2005 - 10:05 am | | Mag, I'm sure that Q would go with the sunglasses, since alcohol dialates the pupils... Q, I'm glad to see that someone else agrees with me about word choice. I'm not really speaking of political correctness (GOD NO!), but instead I'm speaking of re-reading your post after typing it all out, and going back through it in the REVIEW SCREEN to see if you notice anything that would say what you're trying to avoid saying. I know that at times I will tend to say (blurt) something that at the time seems just right, but when I re-read the post before posting it, I see that it's not what I wanted to say AT ALL...
Posted By: Aldan Jan 16, 2005 - 10:07 am | | You can ask just about any college student about alcohol dialating pupils...
