A little more info -- hubby was stopped behind a jeep, which was also stopped, waiting for the car in front of the jeep to make a left turn. Hubby looked into the rear view mirror and all he could see was bus front grill, descending. Nowhere to go. The jeep driver told him he saw the bus coming and scrambled to the side to get out of his way in case he wanted to make a break for it but he had zero time to do that anyway, and besides there was traffic in the intersection. Bus driver was standing on the brakes but he had been cooking right along before that (speed limit there is 55) and not paying attention (plenty of visibility, clear and sunny, road dry, had he been looking he'd have noticed traffic was stopped). The left skid mark is 113 feet 4 inches, right skid mark is 89 feet -- we went to the accident scene and took photos and measured. The school district's bus maintenance supervisor showed up, was furious, told the driver he'd bent the frame of the bus. The truck's frame doesn't appear to be bent, but it's impossible for me to tell by looking. There is considerable external damage, and hubby's coffee ended up all over the inside of the cab (it was in the cup holder and he said it just exploded everywhere). The cigarette lighter and extra plug popped out of the dash (they're fine, but the impact dislodged them entirely). Oddly, the airbag did not go off. There's even damage to the front left wheel well. We think the bed of the truck will have to be removed and replaced; it's pretty well screwed. I have photos but no web page set up -- maybe later.

Our local police chief happened by also, and of course her first thought was for any kids on the bus. She was very relieved that there were none. We all are. The carnage would have been considerable; there are no seat belts for the kids.

The bus driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions (pity they don't have a provision for driving while stupid), and his court date is April 1st. Hubby will be there, because if he doesn't show the driver won't be ticketed.

Hubby is fine, but he will be very sore tomorrow I'm sure. I've encouraged him to see the doctor if he hurts at all. I don't intend to sue, unless the school district drags its feet on doing the right thing and paying for any repairs/replacement costs. I hope they don't, but if they do I'm prepared to nail their worthless hides to the wall.

Thank God there were no children on the bus. It would have been horrific.

April 1, the perfect date for a foolish bus driver...

In the case of my busdriver the two are synonimous.

My name is Otto...I like to get blatto...

Actually no, just Q.

Unfortunately a busy time in RL coincided with when SV hiccuped a bunch of poster accounts, so I haven't been around for a while.

I hope everyone has been doing well.

Q wanders off to catch up on posts and see whatever happened to those face huggers in the PATD...

Hey Q! Since you disappeared with the script, filming ground to a halt!

I didn't realize I had the script with me. If I had, I'd have come back sooner.

My apologies.

Heck, Q, no need to appologize, just get us back to Bob or somewhere to enjoy a nice Stoli martini, up, NO VERMOUTH, with blue cheese stuffed olives. I'm buying.

[Merle knew that would get the rogue's attention.]

Oh, yes, I almost forgot. I will not be here from the 28th to the 4th, as I will be spending my Spring Break in Dallas for a band trip.

Yeah, I don't think that manny people would want to eat blue cheese. That's the kind you try and throw away before it overtakes the rest of the leftovers.
