Posted By: Starfire Nov 16, 2004 - 04:57 pm | | They all stood outside waiting for the others. It was not long before Roawan was tossed out. They asked him if he saw the others. He had not. They decided to get away from the pub before more trouble found them. They kept an eye open for the their friends as they went. It was not long till the came upon what was known as the old city. It had many large homes surrounded by large stone walls. The part of the city where Aurelia's good friend and mentor lived. She was a wealthy merchant who traveled in the warm months. It was winter now and she would be home preparing her wares for spring trade. They came to the front gate and rang a large bell that was suspended above the gate.
Posted By: Desslok Nov 24, 2004 - 09:55 am | | This part of the city had a quiet feel to it, so much so that the bell peal seemed almost alarming to many in the party. After the ringing had died down, a quiet set of footsteps grew increasingly more pronounced. A purple-robed figure became visible in the lamplight on the other side of the gate. The figure removed its hood to reveal the face of a middle-aged woman. "Loara!" greeted Auraelia in a warm tone. "Auraelia? Is that you?" "Yes it is, and forgive me for appearing at such a late hour. But I have been sent on an important mission, and have need of your Lady's assistance. Is she available at this hour?" "For most guests, no," replied Loara. "But for you, she will always show hospitality." Auraelia thanked the woman as she opened the gate for the travellers.
As the gate began to open the archers did not miss there chance and released their first volley wanting to take the woman out along with the companions. The arrows forced the companions to take cover behind what ever they could. Baaash had grabbed Meghan and Arya and placed his bif body in front of them to block any arrows. Ghost instinctively took up beside Arya and when he saw Baaash grab her latched on to the poor bouncer's leg. Terix had met his first archer with a cut of his katana severing the bow and his head. He had stopped at least one arrow but the second caught him in the right shoulder at point blank. The next attacker died quickly but the one after managed to get his shortsword drawn and meet Terix's blades. As Terix feigned right then went left his foot slipped and he began falling just as his opponent lunged toward him. Finding something to grasp onto it was to Terix's dismay that it was his opponents bow. His folley sent them both tumbling off the roof onto a lower balcony. Terix moved quickly to get up keeping his hand on the bow as they both got up. Terix dodged a near mortal sword stroke and went around the trunk of the body until the archer was back facing the street. Terix then pulled the bow tight then let go. The force sent the archer over the balcony and the bow to the floor. As terix tried to catch the breath that was temporarly knocked out of him he took a minute to admire the fine elven craftsmenship on the archer's weapon before shouldering it. "I believe I will take me a souvenir."
Posted By: Starfire Nov 30, 2004 - 04:53 pm | | Just then the maid opened the gate. "Hurry friends in here!" she called. The group tried to get inside the stone wall before another arrow flew. Aurelia called to Terix. "Terix this way!" As she stood just inside the gate. Just then a loud horn could be heard in the distance.....then another.
Terix heard his name screamed then turned to see who yelled it. He turned in time to see Aurelia dodge into a doorway. A loud chain of horns sounded drownig out any other noises that dared to raise. Terix thanked his elven blood as he leaped to the ground below and hurried to the door. As he got to the door he noticed Darken was missing so he turned to gaurd the door. One of the archers got brave and charged but was quickly cut down. See the quiver of arrows Terix confiscated them and knocked an arrow as he drew his newly acquired bow.
Posted By: Aldan Jan 05, 2005 - 10:03 pm | | Darken was approaching along the rooftops when he heard the ring of steel on stone as well as the sound of distant voices. Following the sounds, he slowed as he saw the first of the archers, then drew his blade, keeping it hidden beneath the cloak masking him and crept forward. Terix noticed that the shots were becoming less frequent, and also noticed that the arrow in his shoulder was causing him to become rather woozy. Soon, the bow shots stopped altogether, and then a figure dropped to the street near the gate. In surprise, Terix accidentally released the arrow he had nocked, and it sped forward and into the figure's abdomen. Grasping the arrow that had pierced his mail, Darken dropped to a knee. Then, gathering his strength, he rose and staggered forward, gasping Terix's name as he saw the archer struggling to string another arrow. Darken just made it to the gate and pushed by Terix, knocking him from his feet, and collapsed, kicking at the gate to try to close it. "Terix," Darken gasped, "These arrows are poisoned. Let me have one of them so that I may know the venom of them." Sniffing the tip of the arrow that Terix tossed near him, Darken frowned and reached into his Bag of Holding, rummaging through it before pulling from it an oddly-shaped vial. Darken nodded and then sipped it and crawled over to the nearly-unconscious Terix to give him some of the antidote for the Black Veil poison. Exhausted from pain and blood loss, Darken rolled onto his side and passed out.
Terix fought the urge to pass out as he pulled the unconcious Darken into the building where he himself passed out with a thud against the tiled floor. Nightmares haunted his dreams as the poison and antidote fought through his veins. It did not help his fright when he opened his eyes to see the smiling Baaash looking down at him. "You sleep well?" "Would you if you had dreams of fighting a army of the undead only to find out you left your sword and mail at home?" Terix rubbed his pounding head as he arose and looked around the room. He was bare chested save the bandage that covered his wound and the bandage he himself wrapped around his tattoo on his hand.
Posted By: Desslok Jan 14, 2005 - 06:54 am | | In the adjacent room, the remaining members of the party were seated around a large but comfortable reception area. A fire was burning in the fireplace, and everyone was involved in quiet but friendly conversation. Loara, the woman who had opened the gate for them, was tending to wounds and serving hot drinks. Auraelia turned to Loara as a drink was handed to her. "Thank you for your kindness. Will the Lady be able to speak with us tonight?" "I'm here, Little One," said a voice from a dark archway. The group all turned to face their host. Emerging from the shadows was an ancient woman. Although her appearance was frail and withered, her movements and voice, even her facial expressions, were characteristic of someone in the prime of her life. She wore a dark green hooded robe, although the hood was draped over her shoulders. The robe was adorned with metallic gold patterns at the collar and on the sleeves. She moved smoothly across the room and sat down in a chair, studying all of them briefly, as if she could read their intentions. "I know why you are here," the Lady said. "And I see you require some information. Let me explain everything to you..."
Posted By: Starfire Feb 02, 2005 - 04:31 pm | | “Elanda, I don’t know where to begin.” Aurelia said to her mentor. “I had intended to come and see you under more pleasant circumstances, but now it seems we are in need of your wisdom. What can you tell us about the evil that pursues us?” The old woman closed her eyes for a moment to compose her thoughts. “The story begins long ago here in Westwood. This land was the long disputed land of two kings. For many generations the land was fought over. Finally the king of the north was driven out of the land. He did not go quietly. He sent a witch to place a curse on the land. She turned it into a destitute and dangerous place. Thorns covered the many structured built here. The green fields turned into swamp and forest. Strange creatures came to dwell here. That is until the Brotherhood of light came to this land. They searched for a place to build their keep. They choose Eastwood since it was long abandoned by the kings of this land. The Master of the brotherhood broke the spell of the witch and returned the land to it’s former glory. Now the lords of this land want to claim this place as theirs. The descendents of the northern king have long desired to take back what they feel is rightfully theirs. Only the prince of the north seems to be using the help of a wizard to take over all of the realms in our land. He is out to crush anyone who stands in his way.” The old woman stopped for a moment to drink some water. “It seems the prince and his wizard friend feel that you can stand in the way of their plans.”
Posted By: Starfire Feb 22, 2005 - 07:02 am | | “What should we do now?” Aurelia asked. “There has to be some way to stop him. Are there no kings who would stand up to him? Are there no wise men who can over power the wizard? There must be something someone can do about this.” The old woman thought for a moment. “There is no easy way to take out a wizard. You will need some sort of magic to help you with that. Perhaps you can find a place of learning to research what can kill a wizard. As for the prince, I am sure the kings of this land can handle him. You must decide what to do next. The men who came after you tonight will soon be free and may well try to find you again.” Aurelia stood and thought for a moment. “What say you friends? Shall we find a way to kill a wizard?”
Posted By: Desslok Feb 22, 2005 - 09:57 am | | The rest of the party voiced their unanimous approval. However, Auraelia suddenly realized that escaping from the city undetected would be a greater challenge than she anticipated. A small collection of excited voices could be heard outside the walls of the old woman's dwelling. It was obvious to everyone that the archers were attempting to regroup and wait for the heroes to emerge. "You need to reach the Archives of the Brotherhood," the woman told them, "but it's a three-day journey east of this city. Fortunately, there is a more efficient way for you to travel there." She led them down a dark stairway to a wine cellar. The far wall was bare, save for an arrangement of cut stones placed into the wall in the shape of an archway. Suddenly, the woman produced three smooth pebbles, which glowed green in her hand. She tossed them against the wall, within the archway area. On contact, the wall under the archway disappeared, and the Fortress of the Brotherhood could be seen on the far side, serene in the morning light. "This gateway will remain open for just a few moments," the woman explained. "You will not be able to return in the same way. Godspeed to all of you." One by one, the group passed through the portal, emerging just outside the Fortress.
Upon exiting the portal the corades found the unexpected. To their horror the evil wizards forces was attacking the archives. All readied themselves for battle. "Nothing is ever easy." Then with a swish of his swords Terix rushed off to join the battle. The wizard's forces had already broke open the main gate and was now attempting to break through the Archives' entrance. Three drakes was wreaking havoc from the air while a host of warriors and creatures mounted a ground assault. Few of the Brotherhood was outside fighting in small patches of conflict. Many others were raining divine and arcane magic down on the attackers head. Mercenaries on both sides fought to earn their keep. It was one of these Mercs Terix ran into first. Having met on a few occasions, none to happy of meetings, Terix took note of his attempts to find a way in. Just as the mercenary decided to break a window Terix's blade blocked the warriors longsword. "Well sir Daniel, you found you a employer that will alow you to be reckless." Terix kept the swords were they stopped as he spoke. "Half-breed, it would seem you made it. And your analysis would be correct. After all you do you think gave Clackmas the necessary information to destroy the port city." Daniel forced the katana blade up then swung his sword low. Terix amptly stepped back then down on the longsword. However the dagger from Daniel entered uninvited into his left thigh. Daniel pushed his opponent against the window and put the longsword to where it now faced Terix. "Finally all those interrupted brawl will come to an end. So you are the group Clackmas is having so much trouble out of, I have to say the group is smaller then I first thought." "Idiot." "Really? Not from where I am standing. You are ready to die so in return I will tell you an answer to one question. Go ahead ask." "Well my question should be obvious." Terix paused to pull the dagger from his thigh then put both hands up in surrender. "What the hell is Clackmas doing?" "Ah a wise choice. The good wizard seeks to undo what the Brotherhood once did. He will open the gate to the Hell Chamber and receive the Hell Blade to fulfill his destiny and recieve his rightful heritage. That is why he attacked Blackshire, he needed enough souls to open the door. He would have gotten more if you and your comrades had not defeated the Darken Beast chief. But there is more here and plus the Tome of Shadow which holds instructions and the process of opening the door. Nice try on defeating us though. Goodbye." At the end of the speech Terix dropped the dagger from his hand then kicked it on the hilt sending it over Daniel. Terix suffered a minor scrape on his left cheek as he ducked under the longsword and around Daniel. Behind his opponent Terix caught the dagger and attemted to stick it between Daniel's shoulder blades. Anticipating the atack Daniel managed to evade the worst of the attack and got ready to take Terix's head. A loud "duck" madeTerix react as the large half orc's axe hit Daniel as he turned and sent him through the window. Daniel was incinerated by the lightining trap before he hit the cobblestone floor. Terix stood and looked at the opening. "Well he got in." He then turned to Baaash. "I guess this means I owe you a rabbit pie and a tankard of ale. Happy hunting friend." Terix patted Baaash on the shoulder then went into the fortress to help destroy the attack.
Terix turned the corner and found himself in another long hallway, a group of knights fought against men in black armor. Terix branded both swords and rushed in. One black knight caught sight of him and spun to meet Terix. The swords clashed and sparks flew. The other twin blade clanked off the black armor and a metal clad fist sent Terix sprawling to the floor. Terix quickly rolled out of the blade's path and kicked it aside. Jumping to his feet Terix blocked the next swing and sppun around the sword. Aiming high Terix missed his mark as the man ducked then came in low. With a lucky stumble backwards the sword missed it's intended mark in Terix's ribbs and instead only scratched him. The man brought the sword on the same path down but was blocked by Terix's own arm. With his free sword hand Terix stuck the blade into the open part of the mans torso. With a jerk the blade sliced through the vital organs killing the man. Spinning around the man Terix brought both swords around in a whirlwind attack fending off two more attackers then tumbled in between the two to join the knights in the middle of the battle. Two knights stood strong but the other two would die in mere minutes.
Posted By: aldan Mar 28, 2005 - 09:34 pm | | Darken, still woozy from his wound, awoke in a dark room. As he lay there for a few moments, he worked to gather his wits about him and to reach out with his senses. When he realized that he was alone, he next pulled up his mithral chain shirt to examine his wound, but when he reached down, he noticed that he had something on his finger, some sort of ring. He checked it with his elven vision and saw an aura about it, so when he found the wound healed, he knew what the ring was. Gathering his strength, Darken sat up and noticed that the room he was in was a bit small, and also that the food he'd smelled was on a small table by the cot on which he had lain, so he reached over and after touching each piece of food with a finger, and then testing each touch with his tongue, he determined that it was poison-free and so ate it all to help his recovery. After this, he looked around the room and was able to find the magic aura of his bag, so he retrieved it and his blades and other odds and ends, then slipped over to the door and listened. Hearing no sound on the other side of the door, Darken slowly opened it, peering into the dim light of a hallway lit by guttering lanterns. Slipping into the hallway, Darken wandered about, exploring the place he was in, and soon came to a stairway, so he crept up it and down another short hall to a room whose door was left ajar. After determining that the room was unoccupied, Darken walked in and then over to a small window to peer outside. Darken sighed in relief once he realized that the so-far unoccupied building he was in was the one he'd been striving for. However, knowing that also caused him some worry. "Where is Baash? I'd normally have seen or heard him by now," he muttered to himself. Darken then in curiosity switched once again to elven sight and noticed that there was a glowing scroll on a desk nearby, so he of course picked it up after determining that there was no trap related to it. As Darken came back down the staircase he almost walked right into an older lady who was about to walk up it. Sighing at his carelessness, Darken stopped on the stairs and, whipping off his plumed hat, bowed extravagantly. "Hello, my Lady. I am Darken Lightly of Auraelia's group. Might I know where they are at so I may join them? I have been searching for them for some minutes, but haven't seen a soul here until I met you. Are you the person Auraelia sought?" Smiling lightly, she responded. "I am indeed the person that she had sought. However, none are here now. They are currently a 3 day ride from here at the Archives of our Brotherhood. I am coming now from sending them there through a portal." "And may I use this portal to travel there?" The Lady shook her head. "I apologize, but the doorway stones must be recharged to be able to travel there, and that will take a full day to do so. However, since I'd not realized that you were not with the group when I sent them, I do have another method that will involve some danger to you. I have a scroll of transport which will send you through the ether on a short trip of about an hour's length. This trip can be dangerous, though, due to the ethereal creatures you may encounter during the trip. If you make it, though, the scroll will end the trip somewhere in the Archives, but not in a spot with a solid object." "Is this the scroll of which you speak?" Looking at the scroll which Darken handed her, she replied, "Yes. Are you prepared for your trip, and did your wound heal properly?" "Yes it did, due to this ring," said Darken as he removed it, but she waved it back at him. "Nay, nay! Keep it! It is now attuned to you, and if you continue to do selfless things it will continue to work for you. However, any wound acquired while not protecting others will not respond to the ring." "Now," she continued, "I shall read this scroll, so ready your weapons and prepare to enter the etheric tunnel." After some odd magical chanting, Darken found himself in a gray tunnel, completely circular and leading away from him.
Terix blocked a longsword and fended off a axe from his new opponents. The wounded knights fell over dead leaving Terix and the other two to fight. Another stroke from the axe knocked one of the blades from Terix's hand. Terix dodged the next upward swing then lunged at the attacker. The sword bounced off of an invisible shield. Cursing his luck Terix dropped and rolled from a attack only to be blocked by the longsword. One of the knights seeing an opening brought his bastard sword down cleaving the forearm in half. Terix seeing his oppurtunity slid Terix back for his other blade. The axe weilder stomped on Terix's back effectively stopping him. Terix heard the death scream of another knight and the helpless grunts of the one left. He first tried to push himself up but when that did not work he began to force himself around. See that this half elf was going to turn around on him the axe wielder raised his axe and readied it for the fall. Seeing his opening Terix raised his hand and the ring that he wore let loose a bolt of electricity that hit the man in the chest. Finally loosened Terix finished his journey to the other blade and quickly got up to his feet.
