LOL

Wait, that wasn't a personal remark was it? Never mind, don't answer that question.

*Aldan's lip, being buttoned and then lock, is straining against the restraint*

Hmm... Aliens contacting us after having studied our culture by monitoring the internet. That could be a frightening scenario. They might attempt to initiate high-level planetary diplomatic negotiations with something like:

"Aliens" is just a word evolved from "angels." They're actually the same thing.

Remember the Babylon 5 world. Angels were actually the Vorlons!

I'm sure that if they had actually invaded us with military conquest in mind we would never stand a chance. Mammals are very vulnerable to biological warfare and i'm sure that in their many years of studying us they have discovered this and have perfected BioWeapons (BWs) that could kill the entire race without warning. I watched this documentary on Discovery-Times and in the '50s the aussies were having this rabit infestation so this scientist created a virus and in two years 90 percent of the population had been killed.
I'm a big believer that this is how the aliens would fight us, sat a lightyear back and watch their superdisease wipe us out.
I'm sure you have noticed this in my stories posted on the showcase, "Memories from a gas cloud" and "Memoirs of a Humanist" (Or is it, 'The Humanist's Memoirs?)

If they didn't care about the planet and wanted to kill us then they probably could just use lasers to superheat the ozone layer, destroying it, and kill us all off that way. They might even need the planet to be that way.

Ahh...YES. So many ways to kill our fragile planet. This Planet may very well be a Jewel of sorts, in the galaxy. They may even be here now, making sure we actually dont kill the planet ourselves. Hmmmmm

If a variety of aliens have interests in this planet then it would be likely that some would like is basically as it is, while others would desire to change it.They may even be effecting the desired climactic changes which technologies offered, applied by ourselves! Hows that for a conspiracy. We are quite capable of ruining this gem without help. And just as capable of managing it so as to thrive.

The first point I agree with wholeheartedly. We ARE capable of destroying this world all by ourselves. However, as far as being capable of managing it so as to thrive, well, if we could agree on how to do it, then this would be true. However, what one person thinks as heaven, another hates, so we are NOT currently capable of anything of the sort that would require our countries and races and sexes and cultures all working together currently. That may change. Oh, wait, this is humans we are speaking of. Forget the whole "that may change" thing, then...
