Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Speculation: Religion and aliens....hmm
Religion and aliens....hmmWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
Personally I would hope that it would quash religion once and for all, and enlighten every human to the fact that "In My Opinion", religion was/is nothing more than a means to control as much of the population as is possible.
Religion, of whatever sort, tends to fulfill something in some people that they think is missing from their lives. Is it masochism? Social needs? A need to be able to feel "above" other people? Or is it something else, that is missing in those who DON'T worship? What? Do I look like God to you? (Oh, wait, I think I've asked that question before...) I have no answers that I'm willing to give to the unwashed masses of humanity, and since I have no proof of any of you bathing, I cannot share it...
Oh, and gyppy, if that's all there is to it, then why don't the jews move out and let the palestinians live there? Religion has a lot to do with it. Everything? No, though it could be considered "yes" if you consider that genocides and persecutions were done more to them as a religious group than as a racial one.
I would say it is sad that people see religion as "a means to control masses". Some leaders try taking away religion in order to control the masses. Communist for one. The old emperors of Japan persecuted people of faith to control the masses. They tried everything to control people and to take away their faith. Many chose to die than give it up. I would like to think that given the same choice, I too would be willing to die rather then give up what I believe in.
Perhaps religion is just away to take away the fear of what happens when you croak !
*neeDEEP!* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!
These alot more to religion than that MrB.....
