Posted By: TimeLord Jun 20, 2003 - 11:09 am | | Analysis of War In Iraq War or Exercise Not so long after the War in Iraq was declared over, in the sense that the big push was finished and won, I began to examine the whys and the hows of it all. I have never been one for taking anything a particular Government, or Media outlet, say’s as truth – of the bat as it were; and the more time that passed after the wars ending, and the more data that became available on the subject, forced me to look at things closely this time, and eventually it started me down a road that lead to a startling realisation. A pattern slowly began to develop, and the more I looked into that pattern, the more evidence, [All be it circumstantial] of its validity I found. So what I am going to do within this document is to compose a list of evidence-variables, and then show how each linked me to the final conclusion that I came to on the main reason for the War in Iraq. [List] 1: - Since Last Iraqi Gulf War, the USA has become a much more hated figure throughout the world, especially with Muslims and other like minded religious belief orientated countries. 2 : - The Election of George W Bush to the Presidency was clouded in controversy related to the vote counts. 3 : - The Oil Fuel resource levels for the whole planet is virtually past the half way mark. 4 : - The threat of WMD development/research throughout such regions as Asia and the South East, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, has brought home to the US an urgent knead for Intelligence technology development and deterrent possibilities that need to be explored. 5 : - Terrorism, i.e., September 11, and the every increasing threat of it. 6 : - Attacks against Big Business and the corporate ethos that fuels American society, continues to grow in number and strength. 7 : - New Europe grows ever bigger headed by France and Germany, and in so doing, brings unwanted competition that has legs, in both the political and economical sense. 8 : - The pressure on Britain to join the European Union fully, including euro currency, grows stronger and stronger, and in so doing threatens to envelope the US’s last remaining true none European loyal, allied nation. So what do we make of all these different variables that America is having to deal with? Well just looking at it simply first of all, the immediate impression one gets from those variable facts, is that America is under pressure like it has never been before. Being the last remaining Super Power on the planet, this is a bad thing, because there is nothing the Human race likes more than a scapegoat to blame everything on. And once your caste as one, it is almost impossible to shake the tag-name off. So conclusions based on the variables? = Well I reckon that leading up to the election of George W Bush to the presidency he now holds, the Bush family and all that lies within its circle of influence, [Think tanks, Big Business, military links, intelligence links, political links/allies, and Education links and possibly Catholic Church links] …..all came together under the Bush family influence or circle, and drew themselves a plan of action for possibly the next 50 years of American History. The Plan Gain presidency via what ever means, then hold for 8 to 16 years via vastly superior campaign budgets and vastly favourable actions via foreign policy. Once in Government, slowly reinstate republican bodies throughout as much of the Governmental system as is possible. Begin a vigorous anti Islam movement covertly by way of anti terrorism acts. Stir up rival hate between European Countries so as to de-stable economies. Highlight a growing trend in the shipment of dangerous arms Highlight a growing trend towards anti American sentiments and fuel this further with public denunciations of countries, leaders, regimes and certain radical aspects of religious faiths. I.E. Radical Speech methodology. Start to finance weapons research on a here to for unseen scale, in all fields. Feed growing relations between allied nations with a view to installing intelligence-gathering systems within them. I.E. promote missile defence program. With a future projection of were American Business kneads to be in order to survive at a rate equal to or above the current scale, begin to draw up plans for the securing of fuel resources for the future. Create a national and were possible international feeling of utter contempt for certain aspects of other countries infrastructure and leaders. Create an outline plan of what it would take to secure America’s future in a successful light both for Big Business and security of all American interests throughout the planet, whether political or economical. Create a test bed scenario out of a current national event, were new technologies and human training, military, intelligence and logistical standards can be tested for effectiveness. = Afghanistan Al Q and Bin Laden. Once the results and data is in from the test, [the war in Afghanistan] draw plans for a new more vigorous test that will both, test all aspects of Americas Military capability, including latest weapons designs un-tested in a true field of combat scenario, and draw a favourable image globally of Americas potential to defend itself from all enemies. Fuel the necessity of the test, by presenting it to the Global Public at large under another name, and push that name = war against terror and WMD, to its fullest extent in the media, fuelling it were ever and when ever possible. When time is right and the global feeling towards the test is at it’s most favourable, EXECUTE PLAN, which is really a test of all Americans military and Intelligence potential. The plan being; WAR WITH IRAQ. If one-steps back from the picture and takes a broader view of something, whether it is a person or an event, new things almost always come to light. Things are never, always, what they seem people; please take a step back once in a while.
I'm nitpicking here, but: The Catholic Church in league with the Bushes? That's a conspiracy theory I haven't heard before. What's the story there, true or not?
We should expect our government to vie for the resources needed for the future. We should also make it clear to the world that we are indeed a formidable opponent in war. I would reckon that most people in this country would like to keep on driving SUV's and continue to enjoy economic prosperity. If indeed some of what our Timelord has mentioned above is true, I am not surprised. I expect our government to see to our security in a future where resources are low and ruthless nations threaten to kill everybody. And, if you were going to dominate a scarce resource, would you tell anybody how you were going about it? I wouldn't. And I wouldn't trust some people with a weapon either, like Korea's government(an oppressive government). I don't agree with the way the world is right now. However, it is proven that we learn through mistakes. Maybe we on Earth have to make the mistake of "near extinction" in order to learn a better way. And I wouldn't be surprised if our thick heads lead us down that road.
My view's a little simpler. The scenario goes something like this: [Cold War Era -- 1960s to 1970s] The U.S. has only two 'friends' in the mideast, Israel and Iran. Israel is constantly at war, the enemy of all its neighbors, and a non-arab nation. Iran is run by a friendly shah, and provides us with valuable outposts from which our spies can watch the Russkies test their missiles just over the border...but Iran is full of anti-western fundamentalist Islamics. The commies in the Soviet Union are seeking mideastern allies. The Prime Minister of Iraq gets a little too friendly with the Soviets. The CIA seeks someone who might make a better leader for Iraq (ie, one more friendly to the U.S.). They find one, help him, support his attempt to assassinate the commie-friendly prime minister. When it fails, they bail him out of trouble, sneak him out of the country, and hide him in a safe place until the heat dies down and he can try again. Meanwhile they train him. He goes back to Iraq, and gradually succeeds in assassinating his way to power. [Late Cold War Era -- 1970's to 1980's] The U.S. pulls out of its untenable position in Vietnam and southeast Asia. The commies have won one. Our great ally of the middle-east, Iran, succumbs to revolution. The fundamentalist Islamics throw out the U.S.-friendly shah, and install a strict theocratic government. At the same time, they capture an entire embassy full of U.S. citizens and hold them hostage. Simultaneously, the Soviet Union goes to war and gets bogged down in a little desert nation known as Afghanistan. Their opponents: fundamentalist Islamic guerrillas and terrorists. Our good buddy, anti-communist, anti-Islamic fundamentalist, pro-U.S. despotic leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, launches a war against Iran. The shah-less Iranians now being our mortal enemies, we offer him extensive support. Meanwhile, we attenpt to find some way to support the Afghan guerrillas in their battle against the commie Soviets. Perchance, we have a few good contacts in the area. A Saudi Arabian by the name of Osama bin Laden fighting against the commies in Afghanistan. Some not-so-fundamentalist Islamics in Iran, who were moderately friendly towards the U.S., but are loyal enough to not be purged by their new anti-U.S. government. We offer to support Mr. bin Laden by sending arms through our contacts in Iran. They offer to purchase the arms using money which we can divert to the anti-communist rebels in Nicaragua. *cue the Oliver North Iran-Contra affair theme* Meanwhile, the secular government of Iraq is massacreing its population of Islamic arabs friendly to those in Iran...while we support both sides. For some strange reason, terrorism becomes a threat. Airliners get hijacked, bombs go off, U.S. military forces are forced to pull out of danger spots. Meanwhile, Soviet forces pull out of their untenable position in Afghanistan. The Iran/Iraq war bogs down into a stalemate. OPEC-induced energy crisis ends, America gets its way. The mideast arab countries must submit to the U.S. [End of Cold War Era -- 1980's to 1990's] Soviet Union breaks up. Power shifts. But the U.S. retains its anti-arab policy in support of Israel. And the U.S. retains massive armed forces stationed around the world, and pressure on OPEC to keep oil prices down. Terrorism recedes a bit. [Recent History -- 1990's to now] Having failed in the Iran/Iraq war, Saddam Hussein rebuilds a bit, then turns south, seizes Kuwait. This makes Iraq's total supply of oil, as a percentage of the world supply, dangerously high. The balance of power and status quo of US/OPEC relations is threatened. The US responds, with the support of both other OPEC nations and other western nations, liberating Kuwait and attacking Iraq. In the process, the US military power in the middle east is greatly enhanced. The US being an anti-arab ally of Israel, this inflames the anti-US/anti-Israel arabs. Increased terrorism is assured. During this war, the US names two important objectives, other than the liberation of Kuwait: 1) Finding and destroying weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 2) Removing our good buddy Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq The US fails to achieve either of these goals, but ends the war anyway, having liberated Kuwait. Intolerable sanctions are imposed upon Iraq, and US military forces are left in the region to enforce them...for over a decade. The sovereignty of Iraq is continually violated by the US and UN, for over a decade. Despite their hatred of Saddam Hussein, arabs (especially fundamentalist Islamics) are driven to fury by the actions of the US. They respond with terrorist attacks. This time, they don't limit themselves like before. Osama bin Laden, having seen what the US does to its 'allies', becomes the #1 enemy of the US by launching a major terrorism campaign. The US attempts to respond, attacks Afghanistan in an attempt to eliminate bin Laden. This becomes an obvious failure. At long last, the US finally decides to resolve the heretofore unresolved issues in Iraq. WMDs will be uncovered and Hussein will be eliminated. The US will be justified, can remove it's military buildup, and will look better to everyone, especially the arabs. The US attacks Iraq. The military campaign is a resounding success. But the US fails to achieve either primary objective. At least Saddam Hussein is removed from power. The US has finally fixed the big mistake it made almost half a century ago. But he's still out there. So is Osama bin Laden. No evidence of the much-hyped WMD has ever been found. And US military forces are still in the region, in strength. [Summary] The bipolarism of the Cold War blinded us to everything else. All we saw was us vs the Commies. Everyone else was just irrelevant, except to the degree that they could be used in our war against communism. Being blind and ignorant, we made a lot of mistakes. After the Cold War, we had whole generations that had been brought up to think that way. They had no clue what to do in a world with no Soviet Union. US foreign policy, especially in the middle east, was senseless. They didn't try to make sense of it. They screwed up again. We still don't know what to do. We're not through screwing up yet. But we're learning.
dude, you're one big liberal. could it be that they really just thought iraq had WMDs? or could it be that someone in the intel community felt bad for the kurds?
