don't everyone here agree that, how the mankind have progressed throughout history is through Trial & Error, and if it wouldn't succeed at some point i don't think we would have come this far !

Yup Raistlin your right.

That is one of mans greatest traits the ability to get up after a disaster or failure and get right back on the bike and start peddling even faster.

Its how we have come so far in 100 years.
Imagine what it will be like in year 3000 :)

but one thing we do have to admit, and that is that the human race is quite selfdestructive !

True, but the human race also has a tendency to build, you know, create. I guess I think that those to things balance each other out.

Hey Hype! The misspelling of "pedalling pedaling?" that you did as "peddling" is actually very accurate, considering that to peddle something is to SELL it, and look what we've done economically after all the big wars!

NASA will recover from this setback.Whenever I consider the economic benefits of war and space I happen to wonder particularly in regards to war how much more benefit would we see without the tragic waste and destruction of war,if we were to invest in building the infrastructure and education of third world countries for example.

If Mexico was in better shape we wouldn't have the problem with illeagal aliens.Peace dividends can be very real.Does tanks to tractors sound familiar? Yes,war=R&D,production, demolition and reconstruction is very big business.Wherever else we allocate our resources will make a huge difference and be just as big businesswise.

Speaking of the results of war or military buildups, there's a show right now on the History Channel, that just started last week, called "Tactical to Practical".
This show focuses on all of the things that were invented or come up with for the military that NOW are used in civilian life. It's pretty interesting stuff.

I saw that once - it was interesting. I thought that was just a one-shot deal. Is it a series? How often is it on?

A new one each week. I think that the new ones are shown each Sunday night.
