Ehlana - I saw that book but barely looked at it since I was looking for something specific (data about stars) at the time. Would you recommend it as well-written and interesting? I hesitate at books that aim to give an wide-view of science because many are just vague rehashes of fifth grade science class, with hardly any details and nothing really new.

Oh, yes, I'd say it's interesting... I've only read 90 pages so far, though. It's not 5th grade science class unless you took Physics in 5th grade. I haven't taken Physics yet, but my brother is taking it, and this book sounds a lot more interesting than his class. ;)

I didn't even get physics in high school, it was a seniors-only class. I signed up for it in college, but couldn't afford it so I had to drop it. I had to settle for getting a physics textbook from the used book store. Never actually read it, of course, but I use it for reference. I'll definitely check out the Tao of Physics.

Well, I asked my Biology teacher if I'll be able to take Physics before/instead of chemistry, and he said he thinks I can't... unless I took them both at the same time, but I don't have enough room in my schedule for that. Doh!

This book describes a little of quantum physics, too. I looooove this book! :D

My lack of knowledge of Chemistry is why I haven't really gone with anything tech in my writings - and I DID take Physics in HS; the Chem classes had been full my Jr year.

I'm Wondering..Do you have to have taken physics already to understand the book? And second of all...what does it have to do with Taoism? I am VERY much in love with Taoism, and read the Tao-Te-Qing all the time for some peace. I am even inclined to "define myself" somewhat hypocritically, as a Taoist. But I've found nothing in Taoism to suggest any reason not to reach for the maybe's. Rather, stretching to "get to the tips of the rabbit hairs" (for fans of Sophie's world) can only help us to come closer to the Way.

So if the book destroys "maybe's" that must be the physics part. I'm basically wondering, what exactly in the title does the "Tao" refer to? And if it's got some legitimate insights that I don't know about, and I can understand it, I would certainly love to get a hold of it.
