And neither was all that popular. Now his son, Brian Herbert has written 4 more Dune books. And the film rights have been sold on at least the first one, could be the first 3 he wrote. Okay these are facts. What i think needs to happen for any of Brain Herbert's Dune Books to be made into popular film is a remake of the very first Dune. It has all the elements of a great film, nasty gross bad guy, love story, action, etc. And today's technology in computer animation could do a great job with the worms and the desert. Personally, i do not care if they are popular, i will see any Dune movies. I am a Dune junkie. But it is a good story line, and i feel more people should be introduced to it, considering what could be done now. The Dune films of yesterday were okay (actually i liked the first one that was done), but today we need to create a new Dune, so all the people of tomorrow can meet the Atredies. And see just what a worm really is.

Take the 1st movie, Dune, remakes it, then show make/show/release films like the Butlerian Jihad 1st followed by the new Dune remade. Anyway, I would myself go and see them, the Butleran Jihad was a good read I liked it very much. As for the lead role, well I think the guy who played Anikin SkyWalker in the new Star Wars movies, would be a good choice, and for the leading bad guy I say use Gary oldman, he is the ultimate bad guy actor, and happen to be my favouritr actor Regards Hyperion
You know there are many many young hopefuls who never make it to the screen. Look at the twerp who got the lead as Frodo in Lord of the R. God, if he can make it, they probably have tons of young guys who could do Paul. But you Dune fanatics, what would you say if they remade Dune with the romance as the major event and the different worlds different characters and the Worm all took a back seat. This is pretty much where I am with my story, the alternate reality story, where the love interest is the forefront, the science parts are secondary. Would you read something like that? Would you go for it if, along with the romance, there was a quick adventure plot? What I'm asking, when you think scifi, how much does the sci/tech elements interest you?
Posted By: Odrade Jan 04, 2003 - 11:40 am | | i really like the sci-fi elements personally, gives it a different angle. But do i like one thing better than another? I am not sure. Oh, for Lady Jessica, I think Nicole Kidman would be great, that classy with strong character.
