These are two games i have been debating over for awhile. My uncle gives his side for world of warcraft and my best friend gives his 2cents in for final fantasyXI
Both games sound like the shiznit to me, i only have time for one tho.
I was hoping to get a few other views from the members here so that i can base a good decision on which to purchase and play.
I was thinking of getting WoW just because i have been a blizzard player for the longest, diablo, diablo2, starcraft. the same for Final fantasy but those weren't online.

Anyway, if u have played either plz share your personal and honest view. Thnx, Have a nice day!

I'm playing WoW. Haven't played FFXI.
I have two friends who played FFXI. They enjoyed it, but tired of it quickly. They're very much enjoying WoW, which has an INCREDIBLE amount of content.

WoW is a fantastic game. Hands down the best game to be released in the last two years. Worth the subscription. I wish I had time to play more. And I know that at the rate I'm playing, I'll enjoy playing this game for at least a year. Probably much more.

My two cents.

WoW looks better to me, but I haven't played it. I have a lot of friends who play it, I just don't have the time for MMORPGs. I'm too busy writing and 3D Modeling, (oh, and going to class).

I wish I could realy join in on the discussion. Unfortunately I have yet to play either game. So, for the moment at least, I'm sidelined.

ya, i dont have much time neither, between work and my classes. Ive been talking to my friend more about the ff game and from what it sounds like its kind of hard, hard to where you really can't do much solo'ing and the items you find are highly overpriced for the amount of money being found in the game.
I just want to find a gmae where there aren't as many annoying players like there was in diablo2 and less hacking and the like.
Asian, i think i will play WoW, because you gave me an answer I'll enjoy playing this game for at least a year. Probably much more. "
honestly that helps clear up any uncertainty about which to play. Because thats the kind of gameplay i would like. Thnx Asian.

Any WoW players here that wouldn't mind explaining any aspect of the game plz feel free to do so, it'll be a week or two before i get the game( 375$ speeding ticket to take care of first >:| )

Thnx and have a nice day!

The best part of WoW is that it's MEANT to be played solo for the lower levels. You can team up and add more fun that way, but quests and missions are designed for individuals to be able to conquer at a reasonable difficulty. And if there's something that's a little too hard, I've had success asking for help. Usually you're going to be in an area with people who are working on the same mission or type of mission and they might need help, too. So you cooperate and get the job done. It's been a really good MMO experience. Especially compared to other gaming experiences where people are typically jerks.

Once you get to higher levels and get into PvP (if you are into that), MMO is great because you can get together a party and raid your opponents' homeland. Some missions even call for raids on enemy ground. And eventually there will be a battleground feature that lets armies of alliance and horde duke it out. Sweet! Just a ton of options, tons of content, and a whole lot of fun. I love this game.

Yo, I have FFXI and WoW.. FFXI was fun for the first year... Bored of it quick because all you do is level, Wait for parties and if you get another one KEEP LEVELLING... WoW, you dont have to wait for one, you can quest and grind by yourself... So please do yourself a favor and dont waste money on FFXI..

I LOVE WoW!!! My best friend Kimi has it, but I don't *angry*! I have, like, 3 characters on there, and whenever I go over to her house, we get on her two computers, and we just start playing. We keep grouping up with people (unfortunately they keep leaving because we are wanting to tell them what we've been doing so we keep talking. Usually it's just Kimi, me, and some other dude.), and although I haven't found my way through it yet (I'm still learning what different kinds of characters there are, and what clothing I can wear and crud like that), I've got the attacks down pretty good.

Haven't played FFXI yet...

I haven't played WoW(though I have several friends that do). I'm currently playing FFXI(been playing for 14 months), and I'm level 75(max level). I belong to the top american linkshell(clan) on my server, so I believe I have authority to vouch for this game =D. It is true that if you do enjoy soloing, play WoW(although the beastmaster job in ffxi is all about soloing). Personally, I came from a 2 year obsession with Ragnarok Online(solo only except for boss camping) that pretty much exhausted my desires to solo. If you like playing with other people, FFXI is the way for you to go.

FFXI is certainly NOT all about leveling. There are a multitude of quests, as well as several mission-based storylines to play from(the 3 basic city storylines and the 2 expansion storylines). You can craft, as in WoW, and you can also go hunt for rare items. Aditionally, if you manage to get to what is called "endgame" (lvl 70+), you get to join the HNM(Hyper Notorious Monster) competition and camp against the other great linkshells to fight insanely powerful monsters(Tiamat requires 36+ skilled lvl 75 players about 4 hours to defeat, and he's not even the hardest monster).

The level "grind" in FFXI is surprisingly easy, although there is some time spent looking for a party(though you can do other stuff like hunt items or craft while waiting). The amount of experience needed to get from 74 to 75 is 43,000. Parties by lvl 74 should be able to acheive 5,000 experience points per hour, making the final lvl only 8 and a half hours of actual party time(compared to the hundreds required by many other MMOs).

If I were to break the 2 games down, the key difference I see is solo vs party play. Although it is possible to party in WoW and it is possible to solo in FFXI, you will most likely be doing the opposite(or so I've heard from my WoW friends). Both games are great, so it all comes down to a matter of personal preference. You will not be disappointed with either.

I'm wondering...where can you get WoW? I want the game so badly, you don't know how badly I want it. Is it sold at Wal Mart or something?

indeed, i agree chaos, ive played wow for quite some time. Wow, unless your in a guild, is either A) Solo, or b)Party for a quest and leave. It is MUCH harder to make friends in wow, than in everquest (i played it for 5 years). I can name 1 person in game that i have become friends with just from wow. No outer relations. Just one. And he quit two months ago. But besides that, wow is an awsome game. There are endless things to do and you never grow bored. Ive never palyed FFXI, although my good friend played it and got bored after a month....think im done k thx bye :P
