Gene Roddenberry's *Andromeda*We have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
"Also, Cobb was WAYYYY pissed off at where his character was going from S2 onwards. Hence his absence thereafter. "
I need to know something, how many people are on the ship??????, most eps you see a hand full(Dylan and gang), but on some there are more....do they drop them off somewhere....like the void....???
Series 5 premiere. I liked this episode as I was entertained which is all I ask. WARNING! This post contains spoilers! The ""Butch & Sundance" routine between Dylan & Rhade was amusing at the start and I credit the writers for making me smile. The sets were also first rate as was the costuming and while a small matter to many viewers I enjoy this attention to detail by the crew bringing us Andromeda. The CGI/EFX was spotty to be polite because while the shots of Andromeda were well rendered, especially while orbiting the planet, the "chase scenes" after Dylan & Rhade escaped the planet were cheesey and the "how many hits can I take before I'm killed and still survive by the skin of my teeth" scenes were over used and typical. Later as they tripped around the AA, the tongue was firmly in cheek with the comedy. And while on the planet. Lines like the tatooed guy saying; "I'll have to talk to my manager" while dealing over price for the flyer was really funny I thought. It appears the first 3 new ep.'s will be "filling in the blanks" from the events as seen during the S-4 finale in terms of series continuity. The Beka romance angle is nothing new as we've "been there, done that" before. How our hero's got there is of little importance to me as a viewer because I take a "leap of faith" towards the events leading to the current episodes. I've been rather harsh about S-4 and now I'm willing to let the show show me something. The jump edit's at the start (with Beka) was director overkill but did you notice the small Hi-Def Video scene with Beka spinning? That was cool. The overall episode was decent. Lot's 'o fighting as we've become accustom to but done better than S-4. The story fitted a new network's (SFC) effort to re-introduce the main characters to a new audience while giving seasoned viewers the "basic" explaination of what happened at the end of S-4. Shot full of holes? Maybe, but then again this is SF where many events do not truely make sense in terms of what we understand as reality. The re-introduction of Rommie was done well but I have to comment, the "core", once reveiled as a "sun" was no doubt Trance. Weak and obvious was that as a plot device. Trance as a "Sun creature" has saved the day twice now and I hope that's the last of this "device" lest it become boring. I have to say though that Laura looked "radiant" in her new self(?), being, whatever. Good to see her back. Everyone states now they "got here" at the end which worked for a show like this and next week, seeing the teasers, they bring back Harper and his new "creation". So after the "bringing back the crew" series of episodes of Andromeda we'll see where the story goes next. Hopefully the writers will find a story arc worthy of the MWS and the SOTA with a better conclusion than we saw at the end of S-4 or this show is doomed. Just my .2 cents of course. So we all pretty much know by now the series is bringing on a new cast member with Brandy Ledford as Doyle. Not a replacement for Lexa's character but an addition to the crew and having been build by perennial love lorn loser Harper (here's hoping they lose that angle on Harper's character at last eh!) she's his image of the ultimate "babe". I'm going to give Ms. Ledford a fair & honest chance to show me what's she's got, acting wise, and try not to prejudge her character based on the pictures we've seen so far (for the record I'm not a fan of pink either). One note of interest during *The Weight* was they used the S-4 intro, complete with lame eemaed Dylan Hunt voiceover, because (I'm guessing) they have yet to introduce the Doyle character, sooooooo, will we be getting the new and "real" S-5 intro next week? The other note of interest was the mention of no Slipstream portals in the Seefra system? Will they spend this entire season in this system abandoning all connections to the former Commonwealth story arc? The "Route of Ages" may be lurking about the Seefra system somewhere and offer an escape later, we'll see.
I just watch the end of season 4.....not sure when season5 will be on in NZ....
Right DK, we (U.S.) are in the new S-5 rotation of episodes, airing on the SFC at this time.

I don't know Woody. It will be hard to keep the show going without Kevin. Scifi has cancelled Andromeda on Tudesday nights. The show is not even being listed on their website anymore. I would really like to see it keep going, but I cannot see it going on without him.
I don't really care personally, as long as he can a) act at least as well as kevin and b) keeps the muscled "I was genetically modified and can beat up the universe" style =p Wouldn't want the style to change.
Well Starfire, the Andromeda site is still up: Here and the new season is airing Friday nights on the SF channel in the U.S. and I believe on the Space channel in Canada.
