I have spent hours and hours scouring the net and this site to see if anyone else has asked the same question. I remember watching a tv show in the mid 80's, however i'm pretty sure it is from the late 60's or 70's and was just rebroadcast. It was with puppets and i remember them being in a ship, but i mostly remember the evil characters, as the head evil guy had some kind of a monkey type animal as his 'Igor' and i think his name was Karis. It may have been a combo human/puppet as i sort of remember the ape being a guy in a costume. I'm pretty sure it may have been Japanese. I used to have some tapes of these episodes on beta tapes but my dad tossed all the beta away several years ago, probably just around the time i started trying to remember the show!

Any of the above jog any memories?

"Spectreman was a cyborg from space who was sent to the Earth to battle the evil space ape-man Dr. Gori and his gorilla henchman Karis in their attempts to take over the Earth. Doctor Gori, a kind of Dr. Zaius with blue skin and penchant for pink shirts, couched his desire for conquest in political terms. (Hey, it WAS the seventies.) He claimed that humanity had polluted the Earth and therefore lost its right to the, as the tree-huggers say, stewardship of the planet blah blah blah. Anyway, no matter how noble his stated intentions were, Dr. Gori still used the same barrage of giant monsters and super-weapons as Rodak and the Gargoyle Gang had used before him. "
