There's conjecture that it may be similar to Forbidden Planet. Thoughts?

Been some time since I saw the movie, so can't really comment about that connection yet.

Love the questions about the island and about the characters the show has brought up so far. It reminds me of when B5 and X-Files premiered on regular TV---an unfamiliar setting with hints of an overall story arc and people I'm curious to know.

Hope it doesn't get too routine too soon.

I never heard of this before. Can somebody explain what it is about?

An airplane crashed on an island, and the survivors can't make contact to be rescued. There are flashbacks to pre-flight lives and also to events that happened on the airplane. There are little clues around and some odd discoveries. I don't know how much to say so I won't spoil it. I think I'll change the thread title to reflect that spoilers are allowed.

There are mysterious happenings, and an atmosphere that implies they are not in Kansas anymore, so to speak.

We've watched all 3 episodes so far. I really like the way this show is show is written. The first scene of the first episode is the plane crashing, and, then they are on the island trying to survive. The moments before the plane crash and the lives people lived before they got on the plane, are revealed in bits and pieces through flashbacks (Kinda like the way B5 filled in holes of the mysteries through flashbacks).

It was great to see Kates life before getting on the plane...

S for Pilot episode:

I was surprised to find out Kate was the fugitive. As I said above it was great to see a glimpse of her life before getting on the plane, but, we still don't know exactly what she did.

Daniel Dae Kim's character is rather harsh, it was nice to finally understand what they were saying with the sub-titles. I think he truly does love his wife, but he needs to learn to treat her a bit better.

The older gentleman, I can't wait to find out what his story is, he's got a really mysterious atmosphere around him. I wonder if he has anything to with the island itself?

Great show, that we look forward to every week now. It's my understanding that it will be taking a turn for weirder. I wonder how long before we see the "Big Bad"?

I wonder, too, about the older man. I was wondering if his scars faded as we watched. It crossed my mind that he could be native to the island.

The young man who fired the shot- the one with the tossled hair, he reminded me a lot of Dr. Smith from lost in space. a bungler. And I think there was a character in either Farscape or Firefly that did the same thing- one always cringed at his actions.

I've seen parts of a couple of episodes. Seems pretty mediocre. Reminds me of Earth 2.

That would make it Earth 3.

Hey! One of my friends absolutely LOVES the show LOST! If you want, you can email her at hobbitchild05@yahoo.com, and tell her that Tiffany sent you the address! LOL. Um, I don't have much to say about it, because I've only seen the first episode, I think that's what it was.

This is one of the "FEW" can't miss shows for me.
I really, much to my surprise, enjoy the show with the strange twists and turns. Keeps you guessing. I loved seeing Mira Furlan, too. It's interesting seeing the back stories of the different characters lives.

And it is so refreshing to have a new show that isn't one of those frelling reality shows. I don't know who watches that dren...and why they CARE!

It does keep one guessing. I recorded this week's show and hope to watch in on the weekend.

It does have strange turns. I just about need a viewer's guide. :)

I like it but they have already overstepped the bounds into the "major secret revealed this week" which turns out to be nothing major. They need to follow the B5 model, where the plot might be going slow for a while, but then you get two or three huge surprises that move things forward. Right now, we don't really know much more about the island than we did the second week of airing.

I agree, Iz. We have at least met the French woman, but other than that there are just questions.

I saw the most recent episode(for once), and how did Ethan make Claire lose her memory? I have yet to figure that out. Oh, my fav part was at the beginning when Claire was all freaking out and everything, and asking, "Who are you people?" or something like that.

I read a conjecture that the island could be a location of the 1942 Philadelphia Experiment, which is said to have been Navy experiments to try to produce invisible ships. There were reports of people going into other dimensions, for example. It could explain the ship embedded in the island. If Locke had been part of the experiment and lost the use of his legs because of it, then returning could have restored the use of his legs. The island could still be in some kind of cloaking field.

Wow, I hadn't thought of the Philadelphia experiment. That would actually make sense. So Mira is THIS close to being insane, I think. I am looking foward to more of our french woman.
