Posted By: Iznardi Aug 12, 2001 - 08:45 am | | For discussion. Hey, has anybody noticed that SciFi Channel is now listing Farscape as "a space opera like no other." I think they can claim fair advertising on that.

They even threw in some weird variations on the background music. I love the addition of this ship that speaks ancient Luxan, but I swear I don't remember where it came from. Either I missed that episode or I am just getting old. My favorite scene--the cartoon version of Aeryn. Now those would make a fine set of T.V. Guide covers. iz

I can't recall where they got the ship either. But I remember it. I remember when he shot the shield to get in to it and other stuff. I think it might be of ancient luxan design (or so it seems). I like how it keeps playing a role in the show. Nice to have another ship besides Talyn, Moya, The Prowler the Transport and John's Module. -_Crowe

I also never suspected that the strange alien craft we recovered at the commerce station, which had been sitting innocuously in Moya's hangar ever since, would try to kill us." This is by Pilot from the journey logs at scifi.com: http://www.scifi.com/farscape/journeylogs/season3/angel.html
Hmmm...I guess it was so subtle it didn't register on me either. I was wondering where that ship came from! Hysterical ep, and very creative. An interesting way to depict how John's mind worked things out. We also got a not so subtle hint that he very much wants to be with Aeryn, which should make it quite interesting when the crew's recombine (despite the teaser for next week, I don't think T-John's going to be resurrected). Jool and D'Argo...hmmm, are we seeing the budding of something there? That would be something! Given the focus on John's cartoon fantasy for most of the ep, she probably benefited most as far as regular character development. I like how she wouldn't abandon Pilot and Moya. Not something you would have expected from Jool! Good for her. Hopefully, this signals a little more stable D'Argo. I'm getting a little tired of his constant grumpiness. With the new ship to occupy him, a "truce" with John, and Jool's friendship (if not more), maybe we will get some more of the gung-ho D'Argo instead of the brooding one.
Posted By: ZimNova Aug 15, 2001 - 03:18 pm | | OK, this one was fun. Lots of posters elsewhere did not think much of this ep. Frell them. They are so bloody hung up on the J/A shipper thing they can't see good entertainment when it hits them squarely between the eyes. D'argo has had it tough. He's lost his wife, home, freedom, son, lover, everything except that ship. I agree that he has become too grumpy as a result of all that lately and I hope he lightens up a little now that he again has something that is purely his. I can't wait to see what that baby can do in space, what kind of weapons it is armed with etc. Iz, right. The Aeryn bits were a hit. Right out of Toon Town from *Who Framed Roger Rabbit* including the quote, "She's not bad, she's just drawn that way". LOL Using cartoons in an otherwise serious film is nothing new. I can think of two recent examples: *Natural Born Killers* (Oliver Stone, 1994) & *Run Lola Run* (Tom Tykwer, 1998) btw, if you've not seen RLR, rent it tonight! The sub-titled original German version of course. In both cases as well is in RA their use adds to the overall effect in creating a truly different entertainment experience. I was surprized not to have seen a credit to WB for the use of the Roadrunner-Wilie E. Coyote tribute or the other *Loony Tune* type's of copy-righted cartoon characters during the closing credits? Did I miss something? The interaction between Chiana & Jool when they were carting John down the corridor was a hoot too. One can almost make out what they were screeming at each other, just enough to get the gist of it. This week, if the teasers are true, we see Aeryn and we see John. I also don't think T-John will come back from the dead so hopefully this means the two crews are back together again. ZimNova
I didn't watch the credits, so I didn't notice. I'm not sure who actually owns the Roadrunner cartoons or who created them. It use was probably covered by permisson from the actual creator and not the distributor (guess). And yeah, I know what you mean about Jool/Chi's shouting match. You couldn't really follow either of them, but you got bits and pieces. I loved it when D'Argo comes up saying "girls...what are you doing" and points to John lying on the ground where they dropped him.
Posted By: Crowe Aug 15, 2001 - 04:20 pm | | Doesn't look like anyone covered the fact that Chi's gift made an appearance here either. Remember when she told Jool to watch out for the falling metal? Gotta make you think. I'm really starting to like Jool. Has anyone besided me noticed that nearly every character is now a main or recurring character? Stark who was meant to have been only in a few episodes is a cast member. Crais is now practially part of the crew. Even Scorpy is in almost every episode in one way or another. Only two more solar days till the next ep! --Crowe
