I’ve been trying to figure out a way to say this and not sound too negative.

I’ve never really liked the concepts of a cliffhanger to end a season. Even if it is a summer season.

To me it’s like saying...hey, we’ve got a really weak show, so to ensure you return to watching after the break...we’re not going to tell you what happens until then...nah, nah, da nah, nah. Both SG series are strong enough not to resort to that.

Anywho, the Genii are interesting. Sora is confusing. One second she’s troubled that her team are hurting (and in the case of the two soldiers at the gate...killing) the Atlantians, next she’s giving looks that kill and spitting venomously in the Atlantian’s direction.

Sadly, I’m finding the series rather formulaic, but as Sindatur and Hyperion said...a nice way to spend an hour. Most series take a time to find their legs. Though SG-1 had some good stories their first season, I think it took until the second season before they started getting into a grove.

There are ten episodes left in SGA’s first season. Hopefully we’ll see some more developments yet this year. I just wonder when they’ll air. Perhaps later autumn.

WARNING!
Minor plot spoiler follows.

In a later episode of Season One, SGA-1(?) goes to a planet in which the inhabitants talk about a group called The Brotherhood. Apparently the Brotherhood knows the Genii, but other than that, not much is yet known.

The Brotherhood, it's a rather ominous sounding name. Anybody have any thoughts on whether or not they might be possible allies to the Atlantians?

Could this be SGA's version of a powerfull ally like the Tok'ra or Asgardians?

Minor plot spoiler ends.

Atlantis, SG-1 Renewed

SCI FI Channel announced that it has ordered a second season of its hit original series Stargate Atlantis and a ninth season of its long-lived Stargate SG-1. The channel has ordered 20 new episodes of each show from MGM Television Entertainment, and production on both is set to begin in March 2005 for summer premieres on SCI FI.

Stargate Atlantis debuted in July and drew more than 4.2 million viewers, breaking ratings records. The second season will bring back stars Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, David Hewlett, Rainbow Sun Francks, Rachel Luttrell and Paul McGillion.

With a ninth original season, Stargate SG-1 will tie Fox's The X-Files as the longest-running SF drama series on American TV. MGM is currently in talks with the series original cast members for their return.

Robert C. Cooper and SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright will continue to serve as executive producers on both series, which are distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution.

The remaining new episodes of SG-1's current eighth season and Atlantis's first season will return in January 2005, along with the series premiere of Battlestar Galactica.

...as well as EarthSea

Yeah gang, I might as well chime in.
What cracks me up is Farscape kicks both of those shows in the mevoks and makes them bleed out their eema's (don't ya love Scape slang to illustrate a point?).

I guess the era of "intelligent" SF (Character & Arc driven storytelling) vs. the ('peril of the week') on the SF Channel is pas-se.

Not to knock the SG franchise even though I don't watch SG-1 I've given SG:A a chance with mixed results, but they are nowhere near in the same league as Farscape quality wise.
Just my HO of course!

I have to add that the recent 3 ep. Enterprise "mini-arc" with Brent Spiner (more on this elsewhere) was decent and Andromeda has been watchable so far this new season so the Gate folks have some competition for the SF audience.

I have to wait for the WHOLE NEW season of Enterprise again to enjoy it. It just doesn't work with watching Scifi Channel AND UPN38 AND own a house with a 7 yr old AND........ I NEED TIVO!

Atlantis, I'm not surprised was renewed, it's been doing pretty well in the ratings. SG-1 kinda surprises me though, they seemed pretty sure that 8 seasons would be enough, the show hasn't turned awful yet, but, better to go out before it does. Like Zim said, they're not fantastic, but they certainly are watchable.

Yea, Enterprise has become quite watchable this season, too bad it's not Season 1 or 2 (I think my opinion would be even higher if my mind wasn't clouded with the first two awful seasons).

Earth Sea, actually is coming Mid-December, not January.

Haven't watched Andromeda this season (or ever really, caught half an episode a couple times in prior seasons)

Yes, B5 and Farscape are the Premiere Series of ScifiDom, shame we didn't get the other 18 episodes of Season of Farscape, the Mini was fantastic, and very much appreciated, but, 22 episodes would've been so much better.

Hmm... am I the only one that is LOVING atlantis?

Well I'm not really a stargate fan, that's probably why! =p As a general sci-fi fan I thought I'd watch the first episode, and I've been hooked every since. Now I'm watching the original stargate, just for more background (beyond hints from when I've seen my dad watching it). So, Atlantis has made a stargate fan out of me!

I have thoroughly enjoyed SGA, although I do, so far, prefer SG-1. Speaking of Farscape, did anyone read the article that was in TV Guide a few week ago, stating that Ben Browder is going to be joining the Stargate SG-1 cast next season?
Supposedly RDA will only be appearing in a handful of episodes.

Any comments?

Hmmm...

Hey Gail_Storm.
Here's Ben's recent interview from Gateworld.
Article: Ben speaks about joining Stargate.

You'll have to link as the article is too long to post. Happy Surfing.
