Posted By: Sindatur Mar 11, 2004 - 08:21 am | | WooHoo, I just checked the tracking number, and it seems my first and second season DVDs hit Richmond, Ca, yesterday, so the Post Office ought to be delivering them today. Let's see 44 episodes, plus The Gathering, = 46 hours. Friday - Sunday night = 54.5 hrs. So, if I only sleep for 8.5 hours, I should be able to get through the first two seasons by the end of the weekend. Too ambitious, yea, I think so.

Posted By: Nomad Mar 11, 2004 - 09:58 am | | Yes they Call James..JOE.
I think it is Joe or Joseph but I do not have proof. Everything at Amazon is listed simply as J. Michael Straczynski. (shrugs) His biography is listed here http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-19536 Thanks for the read on the prophecy. The eye that could not see coul dnot have been the Centauri Eye as that episode occured in Season 1 and the prophecy was not given until Season 3.

Posted By: Aldan Mar 12, 2004 - 08:09 am | | Hey, Sindy, don't forget to discount the commercial time which is removed from the DVDs, SO YOU'LL HAVE EVEN MORE TIME!!!
Posted By: Sindatur Mar 12, 2004 - 10:04 am | | Ah, but I have to eat, cook, stretch my legs, bathe, use facilities, etc, so I figured the 17 or 18 minutes per episode, would balance that out. BTW, just so no one thinks I'm completely insane, I'm not actually planning on watching it all this weekend, it was just a way to show my excitement of having them in my hands.
Posted By: Bmat Mar 12, 2004 - 10:29 am | | Aww....I was looking forward to how it was going!
Just as long as your not completely sane, we can't have that......
Posted By: Aldan Mar 12, 2004 - 01:17 pm | | Oh, and you think that ANYONE who IS completely sane would go onto this site??
Posted By: Sindatur Mar 12, 2004 - 01:54 pm | | Absolutely right DK, I would never claim to be completely Sane. I do run around pretending to be a magical owl, afterall, which is far from being completely sane, LOL. Any one who has the DVDs already, wanna toss out some ideas of what "extras" I should watch first from Season 1 and 2?
Ummm why not watch them all in one weekend. It is doable, trust me on this....
Posted By: Sindatur Mar 15, 2004 - 05:52 am | | HEHE PC, not so easy to become a bump on the couch for the entire weekend, if you're not single, plus I could never stay awake watching that many hours of anything in a marathon. I did manage to get 13 episodes (up through Signs and Portents)under my belt though. Then to make things evened up a bit we watched Lost in Space Season 1, 8 episodes, so we both got to see something we just got.
Posted By: Bmat Mar 15, 2004 - 10:16 am | | Wow,Sindatur! Way to go! I'm not sure that I'd be able to absorb that many in a row. We are working our way through the Prisoner and Firefly, but only one or two a week.

Posted By: Sindatur Mar 18, 2004 - 10:03 am | | Possible spoilers for 5th Season Babylon 5 While watching the first season episode Legacies (The one with Asian orphan girl, who develops her teep-ness on the station) I was reminded of a story thread, that I felt never played out. When Alisa (The Orphan telepath girl) looked into Delenn's mind, she caught the word Chrysalis, and Delenn shut her out of her mind. This lead me to believe Delenn had some telepathic abilities. This was further re-inforced to me in the 5th season in Objects at Restr, where Londo goes to Minbar and visits Delenn and Sheridan, and brings the Urn as a gift for David's coming of Age birthday. Delenn gets a look while she is sitting at the table with Londo, (Possibly a reaction to Londo's Keeper?) that made me feel she had telepathic abilities. (Sorry don't remember the exact details). Did anybody else feel like there was something more to these two scenes, or am I seeing something that isn't there?
Posted By: Bmat Mar 18, 2004 - 10:40 am | | I remember the look during the meal. Good point. I thought at the time that she had a special sensitivity to the Keeper. Did she notice it on Londo by any chance, not necessarily during that scene but some other time?
Posted By: Nomad Mar 19, 2004 - 06:20 am | | I think you are right, Bmat, about the sensivity to the keeper. I think that part of Valenns legacy to the minbari wa that they may have been encoded with DNA, over a thousand years, to be sensitive to shadows or their tech.
Posted By: Bmat Mar 19, 2004 - 11:53 am | | Nommy, you have an interesting idea there! Could be an inherited sensitivity.
Posted By: Sindatur Apr 01, 2004 - 10:54 am | | This was in the B5 Legend of the Rangers Official Site, in the news section. Hard to believe it's true, but it was in the news section, so maybe they really are this stupid? Anyone seen this info anywhere else? Byron to be cut from season 5 DVDs The WB announces a bold move after pay talks fail Posted By: AntonyF on 2004-04-01 It's not unknown for studios to change films and TV when they arrive on DVD. Sometimes it could be a director's cut edition with extra footage that goes on sale, and other times the music may have to be changed due to licensing rights. Probably the most remarkable move for a DVD release comes from Babylon 5 space: the WB has announced the upcoming season five DVD box set will have all scenes with Byron (played by Robin Atkin Downes) removed. The move was triggered when a pay dispute erupted, and the actor and the WB couldn't come to agreement on the financial side of the DVD release. In response, the WB decided to simply remove Byron from the episodes that he originally starred in. "It was an unfortunate move," said a WB spokesman, "but one we had to take. The alternative was to delay the release of the DVDs which was not an option." The move may upset some purists, but the WB believes it won't be too much of a problem. "Our customer research has shown that Byron was a very unpopular character anyway, and a lot of fans have welcomed his removal. We have ensured, as much as possible, that the story makes sense without him, and the change shouldn't ruin the enjoyment of any fans." As the actor only starred as Byron until episode 11 of season five, only half the season will be affected. Some people are still optimistic the situation can be resolved however. The owner of one popular DVD website said: "If they come to an agreement in the future, the WB could release an update DVD which has Byron's scenes in them. This way the fans may yet have a complete B5 season five. But it all depends if they can work out their differences." The DVDs get their region 1 release on April 13.
