Okay, nine days and counting to the Season Premiere. It takes me a while to get revved up after the enforced hiatus. But if they've truly killed off Aeryn Sun--trust me--I'll be very revved up.

At least they played reruns this time. Some great eps too!

I think Aeryn will be back...

scifi channel web page is running a special tribute to aeryn sun, mourning her passing.

could be a red herring but frankly it looks like they terminated claudia black's role and are trying to get the fans to accept it.

iz,

I don't think so. Claudia herself said she would be back. She didn't say Ayren would be back though :)

I still feel she'll be back. Her and John still have to resolve their feelings for each other. Then she can die or move on. Then again from a writing stand point, it's more realistic this way..

Damnit Iz, you always get me second guessing myself.

Yeah--sorta seems like a diversion ploy. I am just going to believe she'll be back (somehow). It keeps me sane...if you call this sane!

Well, Ben and Claudia are doing "Farscape Undressed" 1 hour before the show this friday! A sort of primer for new comers and a treat for those of us who have been there sense day one!

Viva la Farscape, as the french said just after the revolution. Or so I'm told.

And with Claudia doing the show, that would seem to imply she's still part of the cast, yes? HOPE!

hmmmmm

well, they still have aeryn's body; so that implies they are going to "defrost" her at some point. but maybe it will no longer be aeryn in the body.

possibilities for keeping claudia in the show would be: another personality grafted into aeryn's body; aeryn herself, but warped by the death experience; a clone; or a twin sister

my choice, just bring her back, same old aeryn, and forget it

Well, iz, my question for you is: What would JMS, the Great Maker, do? OK, OK, they'd maybe mention the dead/departed character briefly in the next ep, then ignore the fact that the character'd ever existed. Geeze, hate it when I answer my own questions. *Heads to bar for a Sammy, grumbling to self*

merle--we have to assume at this point that "killing" aeryn was part of the plan; possibly it dove-tailed with some other committments by black that meant she could no longer do every episode; but it doesn't seem like a case of someone quitting the show, which forced JMS to get rid of the characters of Talia Wintes and Susan Ivanova on B5.

i have to admit i don't understand these comments in the press that black will be back, but maybe not as aeryn. i mean, if she's still going to be part of the show, then why not as aeryn?

Well, ya know. They been talkin' alot about how out there this show is and the more out there they go, the more it seems to fit. I'm still sticking to my possible scenario in the spoilers topic. Although on another board Azziz posted a possibility involving her coming back to life with a piece of Pilot or something. Someone else mentioned the possibility of her coming back as a hologram and then a joke was made about picturing her with a big "H" on her forehead. Well however it goes, tonight should provide the answer or at least a clue to what the answer might be.

BTW, Did they ever show the episode that got skiiped at the beginning of Season 2?

An Episode was SKIPPED! WHAT! Where have I been????

Well, Claudia said she'd be back, so as long as she's there, there will always be a chance Ayren will be back. ;)

And the pilot issue is interesting. They should def explore that later as well..

T- 2 hours and counting!

I can't wait.. heh ;)

Crowe, Yea, they skipped the first episode of Season 2 because episode 2 was the resolution to the cliff-hanger from S1. Don't know if we ever got to see ep.1 from S2.

Iz?

I'm still digesting the Third Season's opener so this will be a short post. I wasn't expecting them to close the loop so quickly on Aeryn's death. I thought for sure they would "milk" it a bit for at least one or two more episodes. Now we have to wait and see what will happen to Zhaan. I did enjoy the interaction between the crew, especially John and Aeryn, and between Zhaan and Aeryn.

As for the Farscape special... Was I imagining this or was there genuine "chemistry" between Mr. Browder and Ms. Black?

Posted By: View Profile/ContactCrowe Mar 16, 2001 - 09:10 pm Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page/Submit ReplyRight click to create a link to this message  Search for posts by this user

I think there was chemistry! .. I know their actors, and that's what they do, but they do react well to one another. And all the standing close and smiling ;)

I did like this EP though, and i'm glad they didn't leave me haning too much longer on their fate.

I think we did se EP1 .. In flash backs. Remember they flashed back to most of the sequences of how they got out of everything.. I bet that was all original ep 1 stuff. Probably moved the story on too slow stand alone so they moved it into the other stories where they were probably lagging or something in production. That was the year Claudia did Pitch Black so they may have been pinched for time? Just a thought.

But I'm glad Farscape is back. My suggestions for moving forward.

Stark, Give your Life so Zhaan can live. Jothee, try to block a shot from Talyn.

Everyone else can stay :)

I also predict John will be able to use the "left overs" from scorpy in his mind to predict what the scoundral is up too. Now he's got the inside track on scorpy, since this weaker version exists as a memory. I imagine payback is going to be a real biatch!

Also, someone, I think IZ maybe, predicted or suggest Crais kill Scorpy, looks like the Farscape guys read the boards and listed to what fans think and want. Though it obviously didn't go that way, they were thinking about it too!

Well done ep. I'm looking forward to the next one. Espcially if I can get the DVD version when it come out. Maybe Ayren's vest will come all the way open on the DVD version :)

As Neo would say.......Whoa!

I agree with Lyta in that Aeryn's resurrection was way to easy after all the grief we all shared at her "death". It was like "duh...., sure she's back, what ya think they were gonna do, kill her for real?"
And now Zhann??? What is this the 'death of the week club?' The writers will not get the emotional kick they want should they keep using this same trick to many times me thinks.
Better get Zhann some serious sunlight, nothing wrong with her 10 or 20 'photogasms' won't fix.

Crowe, good plan for Jothee. His moral character makes Rygel's look virtuous. I really don't like the way he's using (that's right, using) Chiana.
This slug's got no respect for his own father and that's scraping the bottom of the gene pool imho.
I will not miss him at his demise which is soon I hope.
As for Stark, did you notice during the new opening credits (well done btw) that both Paul Goddard and Lani are both now listed in the 'regular cast' line up along with Ben, Claudia et al? Seems we are stuck with him at least for the near future.

As to the ep. itself I need to view it again to get the half of it. It was so loaded with information it did not seem like only an hour had passed.
I guessed right that Crais would avenge Aeryn's 'death'. Too bad Scorpius has a cat's 9 lives and more. Got to admit that I like his character though, one we all love to hate. Kind of like Bester in Babylon. Evil? sure, but funny at times as well and a real babe magnet, lol. Niem, Natira, another PK barbie?

2 things disgusted me. Scorpy licking Aeryn's face in the flashback on the special and Chianna and Jothee. D'Argo needs to disown them both. I love Chianna and I can't believe the writers made her do that. Ewwwwwwwwyuck.
Why all the hype that Claudia would be back but not as Aeryn? Is Aeryn gonna be that changed by death, so much opposite to the way John Sheridan was changed by death? Was it just to enhance the drama that maybe Zhaan is gonna die instead. As far as characters go, if we had to lose Aeryn or Zhaan, I'd rather keep Zhaan. Although I do love Claudia and Aeryn both, I would rather see Claudia play someone else on the series than see Zhaan gone.

Pilot went off, didn't he?

Crais now seems to be a bonafide friend. And what is his secret for Aeryn that will make her so happy?

Crais and Scorpy (Lani and Wayne)as well as Starke (Exactly when has having him around been a benefit?) are all listed in the opening credits now, so they must be appearing very regularly this season, at least half the episodes one would think.

I do like the cast, even those we all love to hate. I doubt Zhaan is going to die. She's dying, even ill, But she's 800 years (young) so how long will it take her to die? an arn? a cycle? 10? Who can say. Besides, Starky boy can give her some juice to help her along the way until she finds some delvian ritual that will save her.

I like the speed in which they resolved Ayren's death. It kept in the pattern they established at the end of last season when D'Argo's fate seemed sealed. It also got us back into the story dealing with the backlash of everything that happened. Dealing with it is more interesting than waiting to see how they bring her back. At least this time they showed us right off the bat how she came back instead of returning with it all resolved. Though I was half expecting that.

Obviously Ayren has some issues with her death. She's pissed that having feelings for John got her killed and now is costing them Zhaan's life as well. She doesn't seem to be blaming John, but rather herself for allowing her feelings to get in the way. And it sounds like she's correcting it.

Next weeks EP has too much tease to it. I suspect a trick. They are showing us what we THINK will happen. I believe what we are seeing is what John wants to happen, possibly a dream or trick of the mind some how. So they show it in the preview and it looks like they are going to hook up. I have my doubts. Though I do hope they do. I'd rather see them deal with that than spend another season avoiding it. Though last season's tounge and cheeck was excellent. I think they can expand on that and their relationship if they take it to the next level.

Another note about Chi and Jothee. I like that it happened. It's odd that it was a father / son deal there, but aside from that, it's happened to me. I'd like to see how this happens. Chi's young. She lacks the maturity to understand what her descision will cost her and more importatnly D'Argo. Jothee, also very young, has more of an excuse. He's pissed off at the world because he's been a slave, and especially at his dad who left him there. Suffice it to say he's just gone from "slave" to "free" and I think he's exploiting every bit of freedom he has. The flashbacks of Chianna are also reminders that she's one who will, given a chance, always do whatever she wants to. I feel all their pain on this one. And I'm glad they did it because I want to see how everone will take this.

Crais: I would not quite say he's a true friend. Remember Talyn had more to do with his helping than anything else. He had a three fold reason to help. 1. Talyn wanted to help Ayren and Moya. 2. Crais wanted revenge agains Scorpius for taking his ship and destroying him as a PK. 3. Revenge for killing Ayren - his feeling here are byond family - which alsy bring Talyn back into the equasion. I think this will also put him back at odds with John. I still think John needs to beat his ass one more time ! heh.

And all of this mess, every second of it, its Stark's falt! It started when he got himself "dispursed" and then he came back to make it all right with a plan to get Jothee back. Every time this guy is around there has been trouble. He blew up the ship that got him dispursed in the first place. I'm very unhappy with him being around, but I think that's the writers idea. Another character we can love to hate.

The only character I really and truely want gone is Jothee. At least so far. And I think it's the only character they will get rid of. Not because of credits, but because he can leave and ease the pain he's caused. He can experience the freedom he seeks and then be brought back later. Either as a good guy, or maybe he'll fall in with the wrong kind of crowd and the next time they see him, he'll be a pirate or something.

At any rate, I'm glad Farscape is back! And I love what they have done with the place... Oh, and the new Intro, Fantabulous. Wonderful job ;)

For starters, I found the "Undressed" special very disappointing. It was like a giant promo clearly aimed at newbies to bring them up to speed. I truly expected some behind the scenes/making of stuff. We got squat! Browder and Black have great chemistry for sure, but its clearly on sceen/actor chemistry. They were half playing their characters, half being themselves talking about the show. Anyway, not what I expected, so a bit of a let down (c'mon...I want to see how they make the creature stuff work!).

Mixed feelings on the ep. YIPPIE! AERYN'S ALIVE! BOO! That's it? I just can't believe she was resurrected so quickly. I mean, in the show's timeframe, this was something like the very next day. Much hype for something resolved so readily. I'm not surprized that Zhaan made it happen...but now she's dying? I have a feeling her impending doom will last about as long as Aeryn's death. I agree with Zim, this card will get old REAL fast.

I was surprised the doctor was resurrected too. I thought he instantly died when exposed to germs? So why does mouth to mouth help him? I sense a shortcut...

Jothee and Stark can go anytime as far as I'm concerned. Jothee has added absolutely nothing to the story. The bit with Chiana is tacky and NOT the way I would like to see them take her character.

Sindatur...I'd put Scorpy chomping down on that chunk of John's brain way above the lick on the gross out scale. Now THAT'S a vile being!

Crais and Talyn--I'm still not sure. Crais has his own agenda and helps when it serves him, or when Talyn doesn't give him a choice. Whatever secret he has about Aeryn must be important--we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

BTW: His Majesty had better get involved with something interesting very soon. Rygel's being reduced to a bit player with lightning speed!

i think i'm with the master on this one.

i am VERY glad that aeryn is back, but i think the writers need to axe this whole "let's kill a character to create suspense" thing.

so far in this series, rygel died on an autopsy table but, ooops, it was just an illusion; dargo died in outer space but, ooops, guess what, he can hold his breath; stark was executed but, oooops, guess what, not really. crichton's been abandoned in space, had his head jumped off, and his brain taken out--but we know he can't die do that's not such a big deal; then scorpius kills the doctor, but ooops, not really, he revives in order to be killed 10 minutes later; aeryn dies but, ooops, guess what, not really; crais kills scorpius but, ooops, guess what, not really.

and now, after too many deaths/resurrections in one show, we end with the news that zhaan is dying.

well, you know what, ooops, not really.

i think zim or crowe said they are exhausting the emotioal potential of putting characters in jeopardy because they seem to be just doing it for laughs. i would hate to see this become another voyager, where every cast member has been killed off and revived in some manner about six times a piece!

in other respects, though, a good show, if a little too busy. just when i think scopius can't get any more disgusting he eats a piece of crichton's brain tissue! i'm also pleased he has his precious wormhole technology--i hope they really follow this up.

chiana and jofee didn't bother me too much, except it was an unnecessary subplot in this story; but i guess it is setting us up for the next episode.

i'm completely uninterested in zhaan's dilemma. give her some bufferin and put her back on her feet.

and i think it is definitely time for a really good story on crais and talyn. they still have some information they want to impart to aeryn--so that may be the next big development.

i would give it 7 out of 10. more crais, more pilot, less joffee, and no stark. that's what i want.

undressed wasn't so great, but it was funny. that line about gingivitis was hysterical. and i liked rygel's demand for a close-up.

All I can say is...... I WANT MY FARSCAPE BACK!

Okay I'm calm again now. No sign of it on this side of the pond yet though.....

Well, as a newbie to the Farscape series the special was very helpful, so I enjoyed it a great deal.

As to the Aeryn story, I thought she was brought back in a rather easy and predictable way. And just in time to thaw out and blast Scorpi's commandos. How convenient. That's really pretty sloppy writing, IMHO. Much too easy. I don't see the point of killing Aeryn at all if she is going to be brought back in such a fashion. It's really a bit maudlin.

As for Zhaan, she gave of herself to bring back Aeryn, can each of the crew give just a little back to her, and bring her around? I don't know if she can do a "taking" as well as a "giving" when it comes to life forces.

iz and everyone else: you are right about the killing characters for emotional effect. You can see that sort of thing weekly on the soap operas if you are into it.

Wish they'd given more on the backplot of Crais in the special. And just what is Rygel's purpose?

Rygel is comic releif, though he usually comes through in a pinch. He can fart helium, among other gases. When he injests the tanit(sp) root(the stuff Peace Keepers use to make energy cells for weapons) the lil guy can urinate flames, and drip explosive sweat. He's a pretty cool character really. I like him, even though he's a double crossing slimey thug. Love that sparky.

Wan't back ground on Crais eh? Well, he was the commander of the regiment that Ayren was stationed in. When John burst into this Galaxy, he clipped Crais' brothers powler, killing him. Crais was after him since. Until Scorpy got involved that is. Scorpy took command away from Crais giving Crais a reason to hate the PK's himself. When Talyn was born, he snagged him and took him for his own. Though I think Talyn is more in control that Crais is. For more on Crais, read the Farscape.com scoop on the characters, and directly to Crais here: http://www.farscape.com/characters/crais.html

Ask away. We might was well be consultants to the show, so feel free :) One of us will have the answer or know where to find it!
