Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Television: The Third Eye
The Third EyeWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
In one children of the stones episode I distinctly remember the kids ending up in a tunnel beneath the water. They jumped up into the ceiling of the tunnel and worked their way through some jelly goo to eventually reach the botton of the water and swim up to the top.
Hey tdion,
I love this site. Found it by accident one night surfing. To find people who remember the Third Eye?!?! I was fairly young and perhaps my memories are skewed by time, but I remember being bowled over by the subject matter, as there was very little sci-fi/fantasy/horror fare to be had in those early days of cable television. The Third Eye blew me away. It was scary and sophisticated, with some unflinchingly bizarre story premises. I too would love to accquire the series on DVD, just to see if it is as fulfilling as I remember. The music for Children of the Stones was terrifying! Those horrible wailing choral pieces. *shivers* even to this day.
I remember the Third Eye as well. It has been a while since I have seen anything on it. Living in Memphis at the time, PBS showed those shows as well, as we did not have cable. I have found a site that is selling non-pirated copies of some old shows out of the UK. Here is the link...
I believe the "eye in the hand" was The Tomorrow People. kids that had telepathic powers and could teleport. This show was broadcast around the same time as The Third Eye. You can get the Tomorrow People on DVD from Amazon.com UK, but you need a DVD player that will play PAL format and region 2. I find that the DVD player on my computer plays them with no problem.
It may have been the Tomorrow People, was not sure. It just seemed to be during the beginning of the show and inbetween scenes, from what I can remember. I may be totally off, thinking of an eye on the Third Eye, if there was one. It has been long ago.
It's all Greek to me.
OK, first off I'm new to the site so please ignore my ignorance. I have been searching for a TV show that I remember seeing when I was young. Well after searching (a couple weeks) I came across The Third Eye. It does sound familiar but I wanted to add what I remember and see if it WAS the Third Eye. PLease help!!!
Do you remember if it started out around some sort of campfire? If so then it may be Are You Afraid of the Dark?. If not... then I can't help you there.
To be honest with you I don't remember. I know it was a long time ago, early 80's and I don't remember if "Are you afraid of the dark" was on that early. I can't remember much more details from the show, just remember some sort of gold object that they were aftef, and they were in tunnels or caves.
Try TV Tome.com. That's my secret to tv shows and the like. Maybe you can pinpoint it there. Other then that, I'm sorry to say, I can't help any more. I never really heard of this show until this topic popped up.
Tried it, they have very limited details about the show and the few other series they did. I'm almost positive it was Thid Eye, just can't remember which one. Guess I have to keep hunting them down. Thanks for the help. Do you know if there is any copies of this show floating around?
No idea. Sorry.
The Third Eye was one of my favorite shows when I was little. I remember there being 3 segments. One was about a window and if you looked at it at a certain time you would turn to stone. There were a bunch of rocks in the yard and if you touched them you would hear some screaming noise.
I know the feeling. I have a theory that anything from your childhood becomes cool again when you cease being a child.
Not sure if anyone is still paying attention to this thread, but the show referred to above by Dreamaker is Into the Labyrinth, and was shown on the Third Eye on early Nickelodeon in the USA.
Flynn is right about Into the Labyrinth. The other two series were Under the Mountain and Children of the Stones.
