This episode looks like fun. Although 'friends' reminds me of that old Earth saying, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".
Will we meet Jothee in this one? I hope so.
'Scape on.

First off, MAJOR BOO to Sci-Fi Channel for playing the promo to next weeks ep 5 minutes before the end of this one. DUH...ruin it for me why don't you?

Anyway...the ep was quite good. Action packed, with a "who's who" of past encounters brought back for more fun. Granted, it let them cheat a few minutes of flashback footage in, but they did make helpful reminders of where we saw them.

Let's be honest...that sex scene with Scorpy and Natira was awesome! It made Data and the Borg Queen look like Disney. I was sufficiently creaped out about by it. I actually got a skin crawl when he sucked her horn. Way to push the envelope! (BTW: the makeup was better on the face in the closeups this time).

Spiders spiders everywhere! A Natira trap as guessed, and quite wicked. Burning Moya to remove them was a brutal solution. I can't help but feel that the whole thing was more about giving Zhaan, Chiana, and Pilot something to do while the others were out gathering merc's. We'll have to see if her crippled condition plays an important role down the road.

Thinking of mercenaries, did anyone else find it odd that most of the merc's were found in a desperate state? Considering they were going to be offered plenty of cash to come along, why give them other motivations?

So they got Jothee...well, a little anti-climatic I suppose. Scorpy catches John, so he just lets Jothee go? I don't know...I would have thought he would torture Dargo by keeping him or something. I've been looking forward to the "rescue Jothee" ep--they've been looking for him long enough--so I think I feel a little cheated.

Then again, now they get to rescue John, but we get to see Scorpius play with him in the meantime. I guess that's a fair trade!

First off - hello all!

Have to think back on this one, as us in the UK got this ep about 5 weeks ago..... I won't spoil the last for you.

Couple of things for you Master,
1) Maybe the mercs weren't doing so well because a certain Captain Crais was following Moya, and may have been less than friendly with the mercs given that they "let" Moya and crew get away?
Just a thought.
2) I wasn't surprised that Scorpy let Jothee go. All through the series he has stated that he is only after the wormhole knowledge in John's head, and doesn't care what happens to the others.

Oh, and very tiny little minor spoiler - Moya's condition does has an effect in part 3.

okay, wednesday, and i'm back.

first thing--really like the cgi in this episode, including the first shot of moya against a backdrop of the stars and also of moya on fire.

very pleased to see that ALL of the ingots turned out to be insects. figured it would be something super nasty.

i also really liked the fact that the writers used this episode to tie up a loose-end about Durka. needless to say, i was really surprised when he turned up. i was even more surprised (and enthusiastic) about what rygel did to him. we rarely see the ruthless side of rygel. it makes his character so much more interesting.

the natira/scorpius history is really creepy. so she apparently took him in when he was a young and helpless halfbreed. and we know that he has a vendetta against all scarrans. i guess natira is around to stay.

predictions--i'm willing to bet (except against ian, who has already seen the next episode) that scorpy succeeds in drawing the wormhole knowledge out of crichton. at least, i would like to see the series go that way. then future episodes would pit out hero against scorpius before he can successfully employ the information.

not so sure what role crais will play, but very glad to see him back.

i guess we can figure that starke is now the latest person out to wreck revenge on scorpy for executing the slaves.
