Well, UI guess this was a "guy" episode, eh?

While it looked like an almost standalone episode, it did have it's connections to the future arc. They were being taught mental discipline so as not to succumb to the Scarrans mental abililities, no?

OK, so Scorpius is a student returning. Cool...I love watching him in action sometimes. I forget just how dangerous he can be.

As for Chrighton, he did not want to go into that machjine and feel the pain to reach the goal. So, instead, the teacher (forgot his name..Yoda..lol) put him in that sauna tank and made him feel the pain to reach his goals anyway. So, I hguess he was taught something afterall? Concentrate on the objective and work through or ignore the pain?

Now, the Dargo story was a nice sidline. Dargo is more "enlightened", although, as he said on the return to Moya, "I am not THAT enlightened" ,in reference to leaving his brother inlaw in a virtual hell of beating his sisters corpse for eternity. ••••..that was cruel...but then again, now Dargo knows the whole truth. Good for him.

I gott hand it to Rygel...that little brave puppet took on an enemy of his and beat him with his puny little mind. More than meets the eye with Rygel sometime, eh? LoL

OK, so...on with the next ep with ties into the ongoing arc.....Bring it on Grayza!

In reply to another posted review at the SFC Farscape BBoard where the poster [Capt. Hornblower] uses a ratings system of Moya's instead of stars from 1 [worst] to 5 [best].

"Two Moya's is about right".
The first 15 min.'s were s-l-o-w. The "mental" fight scenes predictable and my mind was wondering more than once. Ala Trek was there ever any doubt Rygel would triumph over the Charrid?

The sets were pretty cool but I can only wonder if that production cost vs. the story was one of the contributing factors in the cancellation?
Like Vivendi/Universal through USA networks is asking; "What a fantastic effort to produce a "stand alone" episode. Can we use these sets again?"
This episode points out to me one of the problems that Vivendi/Universal may have had with EM-TV/Henson as to the cost to make Farscape.
Reaching a "middle ground" was maybe not possible between the producers and the money because in Oz they were running free making the show of their dreams while the money was looking at the bottom line to sell advertising.
The only God they worship is Dollars, frelled in the a** by the Nielsen boxs.

I was also hoping for the "battle royale" between Ka D'argo & Macton and was disappointed in the way the writer handled what should have been one of the biggest plot threads in the overall story arc.
The whole thing was kind of a "write off" as nothing was resolved.
Maybe Macton escapes to seek revenge? Etc.

Only Scorpius' role was interesting. He seems pretty sure the Scarrans will get their hands on Crichton sooner or later in the current arc [I'm gonna be pissed if that ends up being the unresolved cliff hanger in 4.22] so he wants John to develop more mental toughness.
Thing is, John has already been through the Scarran interrogation with Grath in *Won't Get Fooled Again* where he was mind-frelled back in S-2. The only difference I can see is the absence of the "Scorpy Clone" or possibly the threat of a more "physical torture" type of thing.
Again, Crichton has withstood the "Aurora Chair" so he's one tough cookie.

I have to say Crichton's character as written in MaA was rather flippant with both the training master and Scorpius. He has always had his head in the game but here seemed sort of disinterested.
Maybe he's still tired after the events in TS?

Like you said. Entertaining but still missing something.
Next week we get the "spilt crew" thing again ala the T-John/M-John stories from S-3.
I just hope the story is better than MaA.

I had the same thought about the sets. Very elaborate, but maybe unnecessarily so considering the expense. And I wondered if this expense, as Zim said, contributed to the cancellation.

I did get involved in the scenes of John in the cage, his frustration and suffering were well done.

The beating scene made me feel kind of sick.

Hrmm I was in two minds myself about this ep when I saw it, which is a good few months ago now.
I liked the look backs to Dargo's past and the script for Dargo the character, as he dealt with his hyper rage, was good over all.
Scorpy had his usual underhanded plot to keep him going, and John as usual had to deal with the usual host of nasty situations and bad guys, but Rygels whole role in this ep was so predictable that I think it let it down.
There never seems to be too much of Rygel. I would like to see a few ep's were Rygel was the main focus. Some eps were they go back to Rygels past and his people, would be great I think. Rygel although admittedly just eye candy and a background character, does come of as second rate in all the eps, and I feel that his character could have great scope if only they had used him more and gone into more detail about the character.
Anyways overall the ep was predictable and nothing new or special. Just another fix for the fans me thinks.

And guys I have also had my suspicions about myself were Grayza is concerned lol.
Sometimes during episodes were she is present, I find myself suddenly awaking from a fantasy world were me and Grayza get IN to the most extreme & sticky situations I have ever experienced :), and I wonder to myself whether she is also using me to communicate with one of her spies and sticking one of those biological communication things to my forehead like she did with her partner in crime, the peacekeeper commander.
I guess I should seek help for my Grayza addiction, but I am just so helpless in her presence.
Hyperion out

P.S HELP ME....................... :)
