I gotta say my first impression was; "been there, done that" with TS. I would never for instance use this episode to introduce a new viewer to the show, not because of any lack of understanding of the story arc but because it was, well, kinda lame overall.

We've already seen many examples of the crew being influenced by "aliens". *Crackers Don't Matter* being the best example. In fact John mentioned T'raltixx by name in this episode.
Did we really need that short "Chiana lesbo" scene? Maybe it set up the creatures "power" but I thought it was in there just to stir the pot with sensationalism with my favorite underused character.
On Firefly a similar scene was used with Inara to give us a better understanding of the role of a "companion", but here I thought it was gratuitous.
Chiana's character as a tralk is overused imho. She can be so much more than that in the story if given half the chance.

The "alien girl/spider" thing was a bore for me. Cool CGI and all but what's the point? The whole concept was kinda "Trek" predictable with the outcome. The entire "in-between" was not "character devolopment" but a rehashing of the characters flaws brought on by the "bug bites".
We've seen this before.
Only the last 3 min. were of any value to the story arc.

We saw the developing reality of the J/A realationship. They DO love each other, Aeryn on her second Crichton, John [MJ] on his "first and only" Aeryn.
The Scorpius angle was the most interesting bringing in threads from previous episodes as Crichton supects Scorpius may not be an ally at all.
The "all to convenient" coms thing was a clue that Scorpius was monitoring the coms and may in fact have a secret agenda?
Was Scorpius fooled by the J/A exchange?
Will Sikosu play a role in Scorpius' plans? She obviously digs the guy.

As an aside. I thought Raelee Hill looked great in her Sikosu makeup. Those "close up" shots with the blue contacts were first rate. Like Virginia Hay playing Zhann she brings the character through with her eyes even with all the makeup.

TS had a mixed reaction in the UK too. "been there, done that" did come up, but it was also a bit nostalgic for those who liked the S1 type eps.

On the matter of Chiana, she did seem to fancy the Nebari "androgen" previously, and wasn't exactly shy in "Out of Their Minds" when in D'Argo's body. We kinda decided she'd go with whatever looked like it might be fun, and conventions be ••••••.
