Well gang, here we go. The final 11 episodes of our beloved Farscape.
David Kemper did a live 2 hour chat last night in the SFC's chat room joined by Ben Browder. The transcript is up here: DK.
It's a long read but well worth the effort. Two things stand out. One is, for now, the show will be over after these episodes. The other well made point is we have all been left with a bitter taste in our mouths because of the nature of the cancellation and there has been a lot of negitivity directed at the SFC, Bonnie Hammer et al but this distracts from what everyone involved was trying to do while making Farscape.
That being creating one of the true classics in the TV SF genre.
This was a labor of love which is a positive emotion and DK suggests we just set back and enjoy this last journey into the world of Farscape sans the emotional baggage of the last 4 months. Scape On!

Quote:

Crichton tries to prevent his father's untimely demise in a thrilling tale that kicks off the last run of episodes of the series' fourth and final season.

Crichton (Ben Browder) was last seen drifting in space, just above Earth. Here, D'Argo (Anthony Simcoe)---joined by Aeryn (Claudia Black), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), Noranti (Melissa Jaffer) and Rygel---navigates the wormhole to retrieve Crichton. The group soon realizes they've arrived on Earth circa 1986, where Crichton learns history has changed when Jack Crichton (Kent McCord) accepts command of the doomed Challenger mission. And while Crichton tries to keep his dad grounded, the aliens are discovered by a nosy neighbor.

Oh good grief people how can you forget when a Farscape episode is on?

UK websites go strangely quiet for 45 minutes on a Monday when it's on over here.

Go watch Farscape, and get everone you know to watch it. It is good, honest :)

Okay, I'll stop now LOL!

AAAAAAAAaaaaaarrerrrgh! I recoreded Farscap and went out. When I went to watch it today I found that 3/4 the way through it my cat may have stepped on the clicker and thus the mute button. So, NO SG1 with sound...NO TRACKER with sound...AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGG!

Only one comment....I LOVED THE SIXTIES outfits. Chiana with her sun dress and nice ....er..undergarment shots. ;) I loved this ep... it really showed what was gpoing on in Chrightons early life. Imagine this....when they get back to the peacekeeper space, will John remember that his first time was actually with Chiana?

I was lmao throughout this ep (atleast the parts I heard) Rigel was hilarious...he's addicted to KitKats, M&M's.. etc. ... And that greeting .... give everyone the finger!

I would have more to say, but I need to watch the end. Preferably with sound. Unfortunately, it will not be showed again till reruns.

Oh yeah, one more thing... I mjuche prefer the sexy aeryn to the Grayza wentch anytime. Especially in the kool sixties (Cher...LoL) outfit.

Kansas had it's good points and in my opinion, some bad points.
First off was a short shot of Ka D'argo's ship going into stealth mode fading into Earth, that was cool.
Second off, forget about it. Time tripin' that is, 'cause there ain't no way no how any logic can explain it as we understand time even after we saw *Unrealized Reality* .
Does everybody in John's old hood drive Caddy's?

The Challenger disaster was hard to watch because at the time it broke my heart. I remember [1986] that we were leading the world in space exploration and the Space Shuttle missions seemed as safe as riding the bus. I still have the 1986 US News & World Report cover.
We got a rude awakening that day that going into space is vary dangerous. To this day I still hold my breath and cross my fingers at every shot.

John enjoys a simple drink of milk driving home the point just how alien his life has been the last 3 1/2 years.
Fred Scarran...ROTFLMAO.
That's one of the things that stands out in Kansas, the contrast between John and Earth and John and the rest of the crew. We tend to forget just how alien John's life has been from his POV.
The "finger" thing was overused IMHO but I have to admit still funny everytime.
John was frelling with the time line in this Unrealized Reality a lot, talking to his "young" self in asking him[self] to convince his father not to fly. [see above disclaimer about time tripin'] Another thing he, we [I] will never have the chance to do is talk to our dead mothers. Ben played that well. Heart felt.
Cool of Henson Productions to sneak Sesame Street and the Muppets into the story eh?

The "B" story was just as important if not more so.
Grayza is after Crichton because, on the surface, according to the teaser, she has been "humiliated" by Crichton and the crew aboard Moya. I don't agree.
Crichton, Moya [free leviathan] et el represent *freedom* from the PK. A problem that Grayza has been sent to "take care of" because Moya's crew is not under their control.
An ideal the PK want to eradicate less others seek to emulate the success' of our rogue hero's, who are a legend in the UT's, for flunting that vary same freedom in the face of PK control.
It's not so much "personal", although that's part of it, as it's orders from on high.
For the PK-Scarran "peace" to succeed all free thinkers must be dealt with.

Scorpius & Sikozu as allies are one thing but Capt. Braca as Scorpius' spy aboard Grayza's command carrier is quite another!
The whole Sebacean, Scarran plot to control the UT's hangs in the balance because only Crichton has the knowledge to use wormholes as a weapon thus Grayza seeks him.
The only question is on who's behalf.
She may be loyal to the PK but on the other hand she may be in the employ of the Scarrans.
Braca is Scorpius' "ace in the hole".
It will also be interesting to see, should Crichton return to Moya, how those "alien trackers" that Grayza left behind will play out.

The halloween thing was just a bit too convenient to explain our alien crew on Earth and the whole "Keystone Kops" routine was a bore. Rygel was a hoot when the kids came calling though as was his carving the pumpkin.

I really don't like the character "Noranti" at all.
This was the low point of the episode.
She only shows up as a "plot device", here to use her powders on the Keystone Kops, but overall it's the same dren with her character.
Ka'D'argo driving the car was the same, bogus.
Aeryn was stunning in the "flower" 70's outfit....Meow.
Chiana...well she was in character with the younger John. Dressing up in Human clothes needs some work as she was wearing her panties over her stockings.....as we saw.

At the end it all go's to dren or so it seems.
Everything looks to be OK back aboard Moya but how did John get there in 2003?
More important still is the line; "Was it a Bass or a Trout?".

Major continuity glich.
Everyone aboard Moya can understand each other because of the Translator Microbes. The crew would be able to understand English because John speaks English and the microbes would render that language. However, none of the Earthers should have been able to understand Aeryn, Chiana et al lacking the microbes.
They should have heard the characters speaking their native tongues with sub-titles for our benefit.

Stay tuned.

Zim, as I recall John has been teaching Aeryn English. Her accent was a bit funny but she seems to be picking it up, even though it was mentioned in an earlier episode it should be impossible to teach someone with translator microbes another language, because everytime you spoke they'd hear their language instead, so they would never be able to mimic the sounds. Maybe they found a way around that, by writing things down, maybe?

And apparently Chiana has a gift for languages, because I think they mentioned that she was in fact speaking English. She didn't talk a lot, either.

Granny was speaking English quite well, too, or maybe she's telepathic. Who knows.

I clean missed noticing the panties-over-the-stockings thing. Guess I wasn't looking in the right place in that scene! :)

D'Argo was a hoot, saying the only English he knows. "Yes. No. Bite me."

Maybe Rygel's reaction is why there's no chocolate in their universe -- it's addictive. Seriously. And I wonder if John stocked up on some before they left to go back to Moya. Hmmm. Probably not. Rygel would steal the whole stash.

I do hope that there won't be any more shots of Granny puking/spitting into someone's open mouth. Gah. Couldn't they find another way to have her administer things to people? Like, a pill, or something. Ick.

Glad to see it back, but still kind of lost. So Braca knew all along that Scorpius survived? Why so loyal, anyway, it's not like he stands to gain much from an alliance with Scorpius. The whole Crichton diappearing except for his voice was pretty unconvincing, too; maybe just a joke and not meant to be taken seriously. However, it doesn't seem like they've fixed the time-line; presumably, they have accelerated contact between PKs and Earth, somehow, and Crichton's father and those other humans on Moya are already aware of where he's been and what he's been doing.

Best part was definitely Rygel and the candy. "Crichton, is this stuff legal. Get me more! I need KitKats, and Pez." :)

I'm not convinced Crichton's father and those other people waiting for Crichton on Moya were Human, or who they appeared to be, or even really there. No one else from the crew was there to validate what he was seeing.

This show has, if nothing else, refined my instict for skepticism.

We shall see. Gotta keep our thoughts on it that the writers are geniouses and that it will all come together by the end (What/when ever that is).

Yeah Fanuilh & Iz I agree. What we saw there don't make no sense. Those 2 "cops" right off the bat reminded me of the X-Files as well as the Crusade ep. "Vistors from Down the Street" which was one of my fav.'s as it was a reverse spin on the X-Files concept where Humans are the "aliens".

What we know is, John was in late 1985 early 1986, Challanger fixs that date [at least in our current history], the 2 "cops" were there too.
Crichton aboard Ka D'argo's ship follows Moya's com signal through the wormhole but ends up in 2003.
Seconds later Crichton, his "father" and the 2 "cops" plus another person are aboard Moya, nobody else is in sight although they [the crew] all traveled together to get to Moya.

John's question [bass or trout] was used before when an "Ancient" was impersonating his father but I thought the Ancients had spilt as we saw, plus I thought "Einstein" made some comment about their being created to serve a specific purpose so they were gone during UR.
So just who the hell is standing there in Moya's cargo bay?
If we take it on the surface, that is Jack Crichton, the 2 cops + another on Moya in 2003 and they know John's recent history and seem not at all surprised to be aboard a living ship from a totally different alien section of space?
Another thing I was thinking was these days if anything as large as Moya were to show up in a near Earth orbit a host of satellites would set off alarms all over the planet.
The other thing is we saw during the preview for "Terra Firma" that Grayza was asking that her command carrier be preped to "destroy a planet".
I'm sure I'm not the only one who assumes it's Earth???

What makes Farscape so unique is all these questions will somehow play into the story arc and leave me saying; "Dren, I never saw that coming".
That's why I love this show so much.
