Blake's 7 Mini-Series (TV): Producer Andrew Mark Sewell just gave an interview to Pixel Surgeon about the upcoming big-budget mini-series update of the classic Brit sci-fi show and revealed some new details. The first script is expected in about ten weeks, and they'll be losing the campness of the original show. Set 30 years after the series, it seems that "Blake's 7 has descended into the realm of folklore spoken off in hushed tones. The Federation as it was is no more and is clearly in turmoil from within". The new show may also include Servalan: "As a character there's so much you could still do with Servalan and I do feel that she needs a proper sending off" and the door has been left open for other characters other than Avon to return. Finally, a 2005 air date is being aimed at for the production.

I would love to see this, especially if it's done properly. Any idea how soon the United States may get this after the UKL does? Sevalan and Avon were my favorites

Servalan was cool. I even had my hair cut like her. Blakes 7 is a funny programme, so I'd like to see it back on tv. I've only seen the reruns of the first series, being too young to have seen the original, but it was amusing in a silly way.

Okay. Love Blake's 7 and I'd love to know What Happens Next...
But does no one think a modern day series will destroy everything that is good and wholesome about the series and turn it into some dreadful abomination with all the heart of a straight-to-video sequel?!
Who's it being made by and for? America or Britain? Because I've not forgiven the makers of Red Dwarf for removing all humour and particularly irony from the last couple of series in order to appeal to an American audience.

Done some digging....

Paul Darrow will not be involoved - the original press release said he was, he has since parted company with the project.

That's all I can find so far......there doesn't appear to be much new info...

Anyway Rose, the Producer is Andrew Mark Sewell

A Message from Paul Darrow (I know it's old but I thought it would be interesting)

"9th October. (2003)

Blake's 7 The Movie - A Message from Paul.

This is something I never thought I would have to write to you.
I am sorry to say that circumstances have arisen, that leave me no alternative but to sever relations with the company formed to revive, “Blake’s Seven”.
Terry Nation and I talked at some length about his idea for a two-part TV Movie that might capture the imagination of a new generation, as well as pleasing those of you who have so constantly supported his original conception.
Since his untimely death, I have tried to realise the vision which, in a sense, he entrusted to me.
However, I have fallen foul of modern business practice, which seems to prefer exploitation of a, ‘brand’, and therefore, a TV Movie such as Terry and I envisaged seems as far off as when it was first mooted.
Otherwise, I must quote, ‘artistic differences’, with those with whom I was previously in association.
This is not a Damascene revelation – I have been disturbed by the situation for quite a while and have tried to remedy it, but my efforts have been overruled or ignored. My position became untenable.
You will know, I hope, how deeply unhappy I am and I’m sure you will share in my disappointment.
As somebody once said – “Every silver lining has a cloud.”
Your affection and support over so many years meant a lot to Terry – and still does to me.
Thank you.
Paul Darrow."

Andrew Mark Sewell is the Producer of the new Blake's 7 miniseries/movie.....as for who he is...well I have just findout that both Andrew Sewell and Simon Moorhead worked on a TV series called "Ghostwatch Live", what ever that was like I have no idea....

Other than that I don't know who Andrew Mark Sewell is, but if anyone did see "Ghostwatch Live", maybe they can tell us if it was any good......

I remember ghostwatch live from when I was at school! There was a massive uproar because it was filmed as if it was live and loads of idiots believed it was true. The acting was terrible but I saw it on DVD recently and it still scared me.

Does anyone know when Blakes 7 series 2 is being released (UK)? I thought it was this month but I've seen no sign of it.
