Not sure if this is the right place for this topic but here goes..

I am looking for some fantasy books i read when i was young.

The series started off with a kid who new a little magic but had to leave his village and slowley learned more as he was taught.He grew up became a white wizard/king not sure, he then had kids and the next few books were about his son and how he learned magic.I remember something about a picture that if starred at for so long would suck you into it,someone went into this picture and where he had a zombie army and he was really grossed out cause they smelled and were always leaking.One of the books may have been about him being a white wizard and how he had to battle a dark wizard.
The thing I remember for sure is they were really good books and the entire series was based around this one guy then his son ect.

Please help if ya can..
