Im an aspiring [please don't post ages in this forum] yr. old who has found a talent in writing scifi/fantasy stories. I have also found a recent love for rpg's (role playing games), but havent found any that I truly like. So, I finally got a hair across my butt and decided to make my own. Inspired by the Metal Rock Group 'The Insane Klown Posse's music, I made a very twizted and [foul language is NOT allowed in this forum. Staring out one letter does not make you clever, it makes you rude. Please keep it clean. - The Master] up one.
Basically, it's 20 years from now (a.k.a. 2021), and a group of international terrorists, The Juggaloes, have stumbled upon strange new genetic, military, and other such information and materials. The turned the entire planet into a 3rd world country overnight, seizing all political power. Now, mankind is a slave-working in the most inhuman conditions in the world. Now they rebel. And thats where you come in. You are fed up with the world as it is. You want revenge for your people. You want it now.

~Does that sound any bit interesting? if so, tell me. If not, tell me what I need to change.~

You may have trouble making the timeframe and circumstances seem reasonably realistic for the players. The premise, "...have stumbled upon strange new genetic, military, and other such information and materials," is fairly vague so its hard to say for sure. Anyway, twenty years isn't a very long timeframe for the scenario you have described. Given a situation where the industrialized world could be collapsed to third world status "overnight", twenty years of total chaos (if not longer) seems more likely. (BTW: this is one of the issues I have with Dark Angel...I think the setting should be much harsher than it is).

It also sounds very much like Battlefield Earth--just not aliens and not so far in the future.

I'd say if you flesh out the "how" carefully to create a solid backstory, perhaps extending the timeframe, you may have something.

One question though...the "that's where you come in" part doesn't sounds more like video game RPG than multi-user RPG. Are you planning a quest or something, where there's a goal to win?

Greets! I discovered this list while searching for online games, so I may not be writing with a full brain yet.

Tsuniko, if you're interested in a good system that deals with a "damaged goods" future view of earth as a whole, see if you can find a copy of The Underground, by Ray Winninger. It has everything you're listing--great weapons with a good damage chart, simple dice, good background history. It also has Tasty Ghoul, a system of body donation where the public gets money now in exchange for donating their body to a fast food joint. So much for donating to science. :)

Anything that goofy ought to be good for some decent role-playing, without getting too serious.

Like, say, forgetting to notice that a post I found on a search link led to a conversation which took place over two years ago?

Yipe! (what a way to make an entrance).

I have a simple question. How big do you want your world? Ever hear of the game GRAAL? That game started off small, and became really massive in just a few short months. There was one reason. Players could submit their own levels, npc and graphics. Really if I would plan an online RPG, I would give alot of freedom to the players, it makes a big diffrence.
