I just started reading the Alvin Maker series last week and I have already finished the fourth book. This is one of the best series I have ever read. It is set in the American frontier in the late 1700s but magic, and hexes, and the like really work. These books have some of the best characters you'll ever meet and the villians are some of the most vile. READ THIS SERIES!

I have found myself really liking all his series. Although they are some similarities, there are some other interesting things. The Alvin series, I read this summer, and I agree it is excellent. The Ender series is also excellent, although there is much speculation that the first book was excellent and then it goes down hill from there, but I enjoyed them all. His Homecoming series does not get much credit it, but I really enjoyed it. The five book series was excellent, even though his last book wasn't what I expected. I think the man is an excellent author.

I just read Shadow of the Hegemon, and I was blown away! It was like a huge Risk game it was such an epic scale. I really recommend it to anyone looking for some quality writing.

I think Ender´s Game is his best book, but all the Ender series is worth reading. I just read Ender´s Shadow and enjoyed it almost as much as Ender´s Game. The Alvin Maker Saga is also great. I didn´t like the Homecoming series or the Worthing Chronicles. Other excellent books are Songmaster, Hart´s Hope and Lovelock. I think Lovelock was going to be the first book in a trilogy, but haven´t heard about the second.

Ender's Game is fantastic, as are Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide. The best thing about Ender's Game is that people who don't normally like sci-fi typically love the book. It's a great introduction to the genre. It's impossible not to relate to Ender.

I also love the three-in-one character. Ender isn't just Ender.. he's also Valentine and Peter. Like much in fantastic works, it follows from Tolkien: Frodo, Sam and Gollum. A wonderful and rarely-used technique.

Even better, although Ender's Game was so successful, Card wasn't afraid to go in a completely different direction with Speaker. I heartily enjoy his writing and would recommend Ender's Game to ANYBODY.

I hadn't thought of it before, Asian, but I think I could also recommend Ender's to just about anybody. Good point!

I think A Planet Called Treason is by a huge margin Orson Scott Card's best novel, though Ender's Game seems to have a big following, and might one day become a movie.

I've read the Ender series and loved it. Especially Ender's Game and Children Of The Mind. But all four of the books were truly amazing. I've read Ender's Shadow and Shadow of The Hegemon too, they were great but not as good as the Ender books. I'm interested in reading more of his work and will look out for the Alvin Maker series =)

Yes, Orson Scott Card is brilliant. He thought everything out. As a young adult, Ender's Game intensefied my thoughts on reading, for some reason. Ender's Shadow was also great. But I was still more into Ender's Game. Shadow of the Hegemon, enslaved me with the logic... With all these books, I just couldn't put them down. I am now, out to get Xenocide.

More off-topic to Orson Scott Card's astonishing sci-fi, I have to give props to his cultural novel - Enchantment.

I couldn't finish the Ender's series after Xenocide. However I did enjoy the Shadow series (Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hedgemon).

I just finish the first one. It wasn't bad and will probably read the other ones (no rush) at one time.

Still I was surprise to read how so many people called this the greatest book the ever saw. I wasn't draw to it as much as I am by the Harry Potter books.

He just spoke the public library last night. Since I haven't read any of his books, I didn't go, but friends of mine who are fans said it was great.

The Alvin Maker series is very good. Not as good as Enders Game but still really good.
