Hello all. I'm looking for a novel :-). Please recommend me something that meets my demands:
Required:
1. Genre - Fantasy
2. Original language of the novel - English
Desirable:
1. A wizard should be the main hero. I like wizards more than warriors.
2. No sob-stuff.
3. I don't mind pathos novels. Expressions like "And then the hero slew the terrible monster with a long forgotten incantation" :-) do not affect the attractiveness of the story for me.
PS. My first fantasy book was "Conan the Warrior" by Robert Howard. Now I'm finishing reading his works and looking for something to read next.

Terry Goodkind's "Wizard's First Rule" should meet your requirements, and your desire-ments.

By the way, you chose well in starting with Howard's Conan novels. They weren't complex, but were quite enjoyable reads. I agree with gnollslayer about the choice of 'Wizard's First Rule' for a good read that meets your requirements. Plus, it's a long novel, so you'll be able to enjoy it for a good long time...

Have you read "A Wizard of Earthsea" by Ursula K. Le Guin? I believe it would meet all of your standards.

I'm reading that right now, actually. Excellent book! But it's surprisingly short. Oh, well. There are like four more of them.

Yes, although one of them is a collection of short stories.

***Look up "Yeep" in the dictionary. Technically it's not a one word reply, as it really isn't a word.***

LOL
