I don't remember the title or author. The story is about a government agent assigned to track down the source of a new hallucinogenic drug. The drug traffic of this new drug is escalating to epidemic proportions. The drug is injected and leaves small tell-tale pock marks. The agent finally tracks down the source and discovers it's coming from the government. The world is coming to an end and the drug is being introduced by the government because it not only alters your mental perceptions but, eventually you transverse into this altered reality where the agent discovers a new and wonderful world.
