It's divided into two seperate, yet linked, sections. The first are his memoirs, not so much his life as how a writer is bron and grows. The second are his tips and advice on what has worked for him while writing. The memoir section is laced throught with his wonderfully macabre sense of humor and his knack for story-telling. He goes through his first childhood stories to his time writing his own paper to the school paper and up through writing his novels. He gives wonderful insights to the books and events surrounding them. The writing section is another well done piece. It's very objective and forewarning: This is what works for him, not necessarily what will work for you. And, while I agree with this warning, I can't imagine a person who could not benefit, even slightly, for a read through this. He gives tips on how to start and how to revise and advice for how to go about it. He gives several suggestions, a whole chapter really, on how to become published and what are the best ways to do so. Overall this was worth the money I spent on it. I'd recommend it highly to everyone. And, especially to writers, it is something that you need to read. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed.
