Hello
Anybody want to save a poor guy from mind-numbing boredom.
I've nearly finished the book im readin @ the moment, its by David Gemmell.Im a huge fan of his and have read all of his books.I own about half of them too.I wanna go get another book out of the library tomorrow but i cant think what to read.i pretty much know what books will be there because i've looked in so many times!:)
but what do people think a Gemmell fan will enjoy.
I've already read all R.A. Salvatores Drizzt books as well as most of Terry Brooks.
I quite like the celtic-based series my Mark Chadbourn, but can never find the last book of the trilogy.

Amazon recommended George R.R. Martin for Gemmell fans. I'd say go with that. Or Fritz Leiber, if you want something a bit "lighter," as it were.

Have you read any Raymond Feist or David Eddings books?

Yeah i have read most of Feist but DONT mention Eddings!!!!

i read all the belgariad&mallorean including the 2 Prequels and The Rivan Codex then i read the last 2 of the elenium saga. Then the final straw was when i read Redemption pf Althalus.in all my life there have only been 3 boos i've longed to put down. This was the 1st of them and by far the worst!!
How can Eddings get away with writing the same tired hack for every danged book!!??
i felt that the Belgariad was written a little simply and the charcters were annoying and sooooo deathly boring.but when he followed that series up with Mallorean the exact same deal again.then the same story AGAIN with different charcters for Elenium.but "Althalus" was too much even for me...and i really tried to give him a chance.i didnt hate the belgariad and kept readin his stuff.but OMG!!! it was so awful! <heave huff heave huff> <rage spent now> <need.....breathe....air>

;)

Eddings was my first brush with fantasy. It was what got me hooked on fantasy more than 10 years ago. I followed that up with Lord of the Rings and I was truly hooked then. Hmm Gemmell's fan...I would say terry goodkind's sword of truth series and david drakes lord of the isles series.

Have you read Margaret Weis's books?

I'm currently reading a very old book, The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams. Not bad.

Have you tried Stephen Lawhead? He has some really good retellings of King Arthur. I loved the Endless Knot Trilogy. It is a really cool Celtic adventure. He also does Scifi. I loved Dream Theif. I want to read the Emporian Saga. I don't recommed In the Hall of the Dragon King. It is not one of his better works.

Yeah Dream Thief was nice. I haven't read his other books though.

Dragonbone Chair is the greatest!!! Well, not really... but still!

Also, Spellsinger is a pretty good fantasy. (It has a communist dragon and a guy who casts spells by playing '80s rock!)
