I was wondering if anyone here has read this series and what they thought about it?

I really enjoy the characters and the storyline, but I'm having a difficult time with the love scenes between Alec and Seregil.

That sounds terrible, I know. If they were just glazed over a little or something I could deal with it, but some of it is fairly explicit. I start the 3rd book, Traitor's Moon, and I can't force myself to read all of it. I've read the first 2 books twice, but the third is a stumbling block. It really sux because I like the story a lot.

Flewelling gives the reader plenty of hints that a sexual relationship is going to grow between Seregil and Alec, so I'm not upset with the author at all. However, I was a little shocked at the explicit nature of some of the love scenes between the two men.

Anyway, I was wondering what other people here thought about the books and if they were bothered at all about the relationship between Seregil and Alec?

I skimmed most of the love scenes, but the rest of the story is really worth it.

Well, I'll give it a try because I really do like the story. I just hate skimming!! LOL I always think I'm going to miss something important. Besides, I've run out of books to read until some of the series' I'm involved in release their next installments. I go absolutely crazy if I'm not reading something. So, I'll attempt Traitor's Moon again. Thanks, Daelish.

I liked the books a lot, though the quality of writing was not up to my standards. The storytelling was great, though, and it was an interesting world if not completely standard. The love relationship didn't bother me at all. Besides, there weren't really "love scenes" -- maybe a kiss here and there, at most. I do read erotica occasionally, so I wasn't really put off. I would actually recommend her second series, which is better storytelling and better characters, and her writing improved. I can't remember the name of the series but it begins with "The Bone Doll's Twin." The last book of this trilogy will appear in the US in jan/feb 2004. What I appreciate most is the feminist aspect, teh idea that women are capable of being good generals, something most Americans dont seem to believe. And there isn't (yet) a romantic relationship technically involved, just a little teenage crush. So if the love scenes bothered you, this series might be better for you.

i love these books, i just happened to be bored anough of dragonlance to try another series, and it was worth it! Personally i am a slash fan (reader of m/m fanfiction) so the alec/seregil scenes didnt bother me. i was actually impressed that she dared to put something of that nature in her novels as its still seen as publically unacceptable and could have ruined her rep as a writer.
i havent read her other series yet though as soon as i learn french and can actually read i will!!
