I agree, kahlan, that the Hitchhiker books are better than the TV show. The personal imagination is better than television frequently. I still laughed at the TV show even so. It helped that I was already a fan of the books. I wonder if Adams's death might possible motivate a station or two to rerun the show.

The TV series was British, and British TV doesn't always work well outside Britain (no hate mail...I'm not knocking Britain!)

It pops up once in a great while, usually as a mini-series style presentation. However, a movie adaption was reportedly in the works when Adams died, so they may go forward with it. With a decent budget, and capable actors that can make the quirky characters work, it could fly.

It would also help if the extra head looked and acted less like a fake head .

I agree about the fake head!
I think a modern remake of the series would be better

As I'm sure you have all heard, Doug Adams died somewhat recently. This is a great shame and I'm sure his fans were quite shocked to hear it. I would be one of them. I just felt I had to have my own little ceremony for a great guy

I haven't heard it, but now that you brought it to my attention I may get a copy.

My brother has a copy of the radio show that I listened to on a trip once. It's really pretty much the audio to the movie. It made the trip a lot shorter!
