I've always wanted to see this film. I've always been a big Jack Nichalson fan, and I love satires. I was amazed by the acting, the photography, and most of all by its REALISM. But I was surpried by just how dark this film is. Dark. It kind of has a happy ending, but I'm not sure that I'd recommend this film to most people. Some of the subject matter is just so dark. I do feel, personally, that it is one of the very best films ever made. Amazing. But very dark. It's a very clever film, showing a first class as---le who is more human and compassionate under his rough -- quite rough -- edges than the easy-talking, mannerly nurse who is really quite evil underneath. I work with a Post Mistress who's a lot like her.

It really makes me wanna read the novel. The story is classic. It's just ... so dark. :D

I saw this a while back, several times actually, and have it on DVD. It is an awsome movie.

I want to read the book, though. The author didn't like the movie because it tooks Jack's character as the protagonist, while the Chief was in the book.
